Chapter 22
Kaneeta could only feel speechless and amused. “What
explanation do I owe you?”
“See for yourself!” Edmund pushed his phone over.
After seeing the content on the phone screen clearly, Kaneeta
frowned slightly.
Of course, it was just a bit annoying to be secretly
photographed, not because she felt guilty.
Not to mention that there was nothing between her and
Woodrow now–even if she really was involved with another
man, Edmund was the last person qualified to accuse her!
“Woodrow deliberately made things difficult for me last night,
made me drink so much red wine, and yet you, you got so close
to him…” Edmund clenched his fists, the corners of his eyes.
reddening. “Neeta, since when did you stop caring about my
feelings?”
Nyasia fanned the flames from the side: “Ms. Drayton, I know
Mr. Hartwell is handsome and the heir to the Hartwell family in
Roseburn, but you can’t just disregard Ed’s dignity like this, can

you?”
“It seems Ms. Kuntz’s wrist is just fine,” Kaneeta said coldly, “so lively and energetic.”
“You..”
Nyasia wanted to retort, but she was indeed feeling guilty. She had only made a fuss over a small cut on her wrist, which was why she was so energetic now.
With Kaneeta mocking her about this, she really didn’t know how to respond.
“Don’t change the subject.” Edmund suddenly stood up from his chair. “You and Woodrow…”
“Mr. Hartwell saved me,” Kaneeta interrupted him, “when it was a matter of life and death.””
This morning, Nyasia actually wasn’t that close to them.
The out–of–control truck was heading straight in her direction.
It couldn’t have hit Nyasia at all.
Yet Edmund’s first reaction was still to rush to Nyasia’s side.
But she didn’t intend to say anything about it.

After all, she had long since seen through Edmund’s true nature
and had already given up on him.
And yet Edmund still had the nerve to question her?
How ridiculous.
A mocking smile curled at Kaneeta’s lips. “While you were so
intent on protecting your precious little sister, it was Mr.
Hartwell who stepped forward and risked his life to save me. So
what, am I supposed to draw a line with him?”
As soon as she brought this up, a flicker of guilt flashed in
Edmund’s eyes.
But he quickly argued, “Nya’s hand was injured, so I looked after
her first, but I didn’t want anything to happen to you either.
You seemed fine at the time–I thought you’d be able to get out
of the way.”
“Exactly,” Nyasia chimed in, “Ms. Drayton, you could’ve dodged
if you’d reacted faster. Who told you to just stand there?”
Kaneeta suddenly turned her head and stared at Nyasia.
Her gaze was as cold as an ice pick, and Nyasia instinctively
shrank back.
Chapter 22
“Ms. Kuntz, do you know I was in a car accident two years ago?”
Nyasia jolted, her voice suddenly rising. “How would I know!”
“Is that so? So you didn’t know,” Kaneeta said in a faint tone.
“Two years ago…”
“I don’t want to hear it!” Nyasia suddenly covered her ears.
“Kaneeta, who wants to hear about your life!”
“Why are you suddenly bringing up what happened two years
ago!” Edmund’s expression changed as well.
Kaneeta smiled. “I just wanted to share an old story, I didn’t
expect Ms. Kuntz to react so strongly.”
Both Edmund and Nyasia’s faces froze.
“Mr. Kuntz, it’s still working hours. I think you should sign this
document first.“”
Kaneeta raised her hand and tapped the document on the desk
with her fingertip.
Edmund felt as if her finger had tapped his heart as well,
sending a dense wave of pain through it. His Adam’s apple bobbed twice; he wanted to say something more, but in the end, he couldn’t get the words out. He picked up the pen and quickly

signed his name on the document.
Kaneeta took the document and was about to leave, but
Edmund called out to her: “Neeta… I was wrong just now, I was
too harsh with you. But seeing you with another man, I can’t
help but feel upset. You’re my wife, I…”
“Mr. Kuntz.” Kaneeta’s expression was indifferent, clearly not
wanting to hear another word from him. “This is the office.
You’d better not say such things here.”
She walked out.
As soon as the office door closed, Nyasia burst into tears. “Ed,
you said she’s your wife? Then what am I?”
“Nya, that’s enough,” Edmund rubbed his brow, frustrated. “I’ve
told you, getting the marriage certificate with you was just to
help you out of trouble. In the end, my wife will always be
Neeta.”
“But she’s already getting so close to another man!”
Edmund thought for a moment and said, “Just like Neeta said,
Woodrow just saved her. She can’t possibly draw a line with
him right now. Neeta loves me very much, that’s beyond doubt.
She’s just mad at me right now, that’s all.”
Chapter 22
After all, this morning he had chosen to save Nyasia.
That wasn’t a small matter. It was only natural for Kaneeta to be
angry.
It seemed he would have to coax her properly this time.
Nyasia gritted her teeth in hatred.
After a while, she looked uneasy again. “Then what did Kaneeta
mean by bringing up the car accident from two years ago?
Could it be that she, she knows?”
“Impossible,” Edmund said immediately. “It’s been two years
already. If she was going to find out, she would have found out
long ago. How could she only realize it now? Besides, that man
already died in prison. Don’t worry, it’s fine.””
“That’s good,” Nyasia breathed a sigh of relief.
But thinking of how Kaneeta had looked just now, and how
much Edmund still cared about her, Nyasia was furious again.
“Kaneeta, just wait and see how I hit you where it hurts…”
Nyasia swore inside.
