Chapter 6
Walking out of the club, I gave Leroy a sincere apology.
“Thank you for today, Mr. Hewitt. I hope this won’t affect things between you and Wayne.”
Leroy scoffed.
“Doesn’t matter if it does. I never liked the Clinton family anyway.”
What?
Leroy didn’t like Wayne, yet he still hung out with him.
Is this some new rich guy hobby?
I didn’t get it, but I’d respect it.
“Mr. Hewitt, if you don’t mind, I’d like to treat you to a proper meal next time. Today was too rushed.”
Leroy nodded, completely serious. “I’m free all month. I eat anything-I’m easy to feed.”
I paused, then smiled and nodded.
Leroy was… kind of amusing.
The day I was supposed to meet Leroy for dinner, I got dressed, opened the door, and found Wayne standing outside.
He lit up the moment he saw me.
“Honey, I’ve come to take you home!”
Then I remembered-when I first bought this little place, Wayne had stayed with me for two months.
So he knew the address.
I frowned. “What do you want? If it’s nothing, please leave. I’m heading out.”
He peeked inside, looking all heartbroken.
“Honey, how could you live here? Come back with me, please.”
I had no clue what kind of fantasy he was living in, but I found him irritating.
“Wayne, are you mentally unwell? I already asked for a divorce. We’re not compatible. Why would I agree to go back to your place?
“I’ll
say this once-move. I’m leaving.”

Chapter 6
I walked straight into the elevator, ignoring him.
I’d planned to meet Leroy at the restaurant, but he insisted on picking me up at my house.
Wayne followed me all the way down, trying to talk. I said nothing.
He stood there, frustrated-until he saw the man waiting outside the gate.
He lost it.
“Leroy? You again?”
I ignored his rage and walked right to Leroy.
“Sorry, I’m late.”
Leroy opened the passenger door.
“No, I was just early.”
We both acted like Wayne didn’t exist.
I thought he’d get the hint and back off. Nope. He slipped into the backseat the second we weren’t looking.
“Wayne, what the hell are you doing?
“This is Leroy’s car. You’re not invited!”
He sat there with arms crossed like he belonged.
“You’re my wife. If you’re going out with some random guy, I get to follow.
“We’re in the middle of a divorce. Just sign the papers and we’re done.”
Wayne looked stunned, as if he couldn’t believe it.
“I won’t sign. Diana, don’t even think about getting rid of me in this lifetime.
“Oh, I get it now. You want a divorce so you can run off with this pretty boy. No wonder you had the guts to bring it
“Diana, you act all high and mighty, but in the end, you still need a man.”
Before he could finish, Leroy yanked him out of the car and landed a few solid punches right on his smug face.
I rushed over, worried it might get serious. But Wayne didn’t even fight back.
Yeah, youth really makes a difference.
When Leroy was done, I stepped in.
“Stop, stop. If you beat him to death, that’s on us. He’s already old; he can’t take too many hits.”

Chapter 6
Leroy backed off immediately.
But Wayne, seeing the opening, tried to jump him again. I slapped him hard across the face.
He froze.
“That’s for what you just said.
“You haven’t changed. Never once reflect on your own actions; always blame others.
“Wayne, let me repeat it-if you won’t divorce me, I’ll take it to court.”
The fight had drawn some attention. Someone called the cops.
Dinner was off.
We ended up at the police station, filed statements, and got a lecture.
Then Wayne said he wanted to sue Leroy.
Leroy wasn’t fazed and called his lawyer right away.
Just as we stepped out of the station, a familiar voice screamed out.
“Wayne! Who did this to you?! I’ll make them pay!”
Leroy lazily raised his hand.
“That’s me.”
