Chapter 20 You Lie to Your Wife
Only then did Erwina breathe a sigh of relief.
A
Gustav was the Top Commander of UEP. How could anyone not
know him?
But maybe His Majesty was the only one in the Royal Palace
who was close to Gustav. After all, they were relatives.
And of course, Gustav’s adjutants knew him reasonably well.
Apparently, Mr. M was just an ordinary palace staff member. He had no connection to Gustav at all. Maybe he had never met Gustav in person.
At this, she was finally relieved.
“Alright then. Goodbye, Mr. M.“‘
“Goodbye.”
After the call was disconnected, Gustav started to deal with some documents. With much hesitation, Victor said in a small
voice, “Mr. Mullen, you lied more than once back then. But you never lie.”

“And you lied to your wife, no less!” Victor thought, quite
furious.
Gustav lowered his gaze. “She’s afraid of me. If I had told her the
truth, she would have hung up long ago.”
Hearing this, Victor checked the call duration. It had actually lasted for twenty–eight minutes.
All of a sudden, he felt sorry for Gustav. After all, Erwina could talk to a stranger for twenty–eight minutes, but she wouldn’t
even reply to his messages.
But…
It asked, “Mr. Mullen, why did you help the Schrader family?
That was years ago.”
It certainly wasn’t because Gustav liked the Schrader
Restaurant’s food. In fact, given the choice, he wouldn’t even
bother with nutrient fluid.
Gustav picked up a document and continued to work, having no
intention of answering Victor.

Meanwhile, Erwina came to Derrick to share the great news
with him.
With Mr. M, the Cowan family would no longer be a threat.
When Derrick asked her about Mr. M, she said after some thought, “His projection was off, but given his voice, I think he’s in his thirties or forties. He sounds pretty gentle, so maybe he’s an administrative staff member at the palace. Oh, and guess what? He’s a big fan of our restaurant’s food! When the new branch opens, I’ll cook for him personally!”
Sensing how thrilled she was, Derrick smiled kindly, “Really? You can cook? How come you didn’t tell me?”
“I was worried my food might not be to your taste. Actually, I’ve learned to cook quite a lot of dishes these past two years.
Grandpa, how about I fix something for you today?” she smiled
brightly.
Not wanting anyone to be suspicious about how she knew how
to cook, she had spent the past two years of her recovery
“learning to cook“.
Derrick shook his head. “It’s too late today. I don’t want
indigestion. Tomorrow, maybe.”
“Alright, Grandpa.”

Erwina walked out of Derrick’s study and was about to go to the
kitchen to fetch some ingredients when she bumped into Elaine,
who was cutting vegetables.
Household robots were pretty common now, but the Schrader family still preferred homemade food.
While Elaine was chopping vegetables, Megan, who pretended to be strong, was standing next to her.
Her eyes were red as she said while looking aggrieved, “Mom, I didn’t mean to be hurt. I didn’t know I was dialing Wyn’s number. I was panicking… Please don’t be mad at me, alright?”
Elaine chopped the carrots with greater strength, making deafening noises.
“How convenient,” she sneered. “Of all people, you called him. You ruined his marriage with Wina. Happy now?”
“Mom, you got me wrong. I really didn’t…”
“I’m not your mom! Don’t call me that!”
