Chapter 13 Do You Like Him?
At the thought of a divorce, Erwina asked Elaine, “Mom, are you
really gonna divorce Dad? I mean, it’s not right that he’s so nice
to Megan. But my gut tells me she’s not his daughter. You ran a
DNA comparison when adopting her, right?”
Nothing about Megan resembled Ethan–neither her features
nor her temperament.
Unless Megan had some kind of genetic mutation.
But that was highly unlikely.
Frowning, Elaine said, “I know. But he’s way too nice to her.
Wynfield couldn’t make it yesterday because of her. How could
he blame you for it? That was totally outrageous! I don’t care.
I’m not gonna let this slide!”
Erwina advised her, “Mom, Wynfield means nothing to me
now, and so does Megan. You don’t have to divorce Dad because
of me. Of course, if he betrays you or something and you want a
divorce, I’m all for it. Also, getting violent is never acceptable. He
all f
might do it again at any time. You must show him the
consequences. If he slaps you again, activate your mech and slap
him back.”

“That’s what I think,” Elaine said.
Just then, Harry pushed the door and entered. “Mom, Grandpa
wants to see Wina.”
Aside from Erwina and Elaine, no one else in the family knew
the true identity of Erwina’s groom yet.
On the way to Derrick’s study, Harry scolded Erwina, lowering
his voice, “Dad and Mom are getting a divorce. It’s all your fault.”
Erwina looked up at him, the celebrity.
She sneered, “Why don’t you blame Wynfield and Megan?”
“How could you say that? Meg got seriously injured rushing to
your wedding. If not for Wynfield, she could have died!”
Erwina rolled her eyes, finding such excuses a waste of her
time.
Megan’s instinct when facing an accident was to reach out to
Wynfield, her future brother–in–law. Was that even normal?
She didn’t think so.
“Harry, if you’re so fond of Megan, why not make her your
actual sister?”

“Oh, you think I enjoy being your brother?”
“Then my proposal should be perfect for you, right?”
Ignoring the furious Harry, she walked into the study and
closed the door, shutting him out.
Derrick was sitting on the sofa, studying a cookbook with his
reading glasses.
Recipes from ancient Earth had been lost, and the handwritten
book in his hand was just scraps of recipes collected over the
years. Many of them were barely legible, but he still treated
them like precious treasure.
The reason was simple–in these times, even tattered,
incomplete handwritten manuscripts could sell for fortunes at
auction.
At the sight of Erwina, he carefully put the book back inside a
glass case on the desk.
Erwina glanced at the book and then looked away.
When she had traveled back to ancient Earth, she had lived
with a family of master chefs. The dishes she had learned to
make dwarfed those recipes.

Of course, she had kept this to herself so far.
wanted to see me?”
She asked politely, “Grandpa, you wanted to see me?”
“Where’s that brat?” Derrick asked.
After a second of silence, she said, “He had something to do and
left.”
She respected Derrick a lot. Though she didn’t want to lie to
Derrick, who knew? Maybe she and Gustav would get a divorce
tomorrow. She didn’t want any trouble.
She stood up and made a cup of tea for Derrick. “Grandpa, given
the circumstances, I had to marry someone, or some stranger
would have been assigned to be my husband. What if I got
someone who was ugly and indecent?”
Derrick took the tea and said helplessly, “So, do you like him?”
