Chapter 9 He’s Your Nephew
Ethan kind of regretted slapping his wife.
Elaine, tears streaming down her face, said bitterly, “That slap
confirmed what I suspected, didn’t it? Fine, you can expect my
divorce papers!”
She cupped her face and bolted.
Not far away, two young men were rushing over. One, with
dark hair and a calm presence, was the first son, Spencer. The
other, with blond hair and a bright demeanor, was the second
son, Harry Schrader.
It was the first time they had seen their parents fight. Harry
quickly chased after Elaine, while Spencer stayed back to calm
Ethan down, since the guests outside hadn’t left yet.
Just as the clock struck midnight, the wedding videos of the
newlyweds that had been playing in every nook and cranny of
the streets were swapped out for a bunch of ads.
This lively, chaotic wedding, despite all the drama, actually
wrapped up in a kinda creepy vibe.
But some people had started posting online, joking about the

groom swap and spinning multiple versions of the story.
Back in the hall, Ethan, who was now much calmer, was with Derrick, as they saw off two big shots from District I. One of
them, Daniel Beasley, suddenly piped up, “Is that groom from
District III?”
Ethan nearly choked on his own breath. How the heck was he supposed to know which district that guy was from?
But with Daniel staring him down, he forced a smile and replied,
“Yeah.”
“Where’s he?”
“Uh, the newlyweds went to chill. Should I get someone to fetch
them?”
“No need,” Daniel said with a shake of his head, turning to board
the aircraft.
The men in dark navy military uniforms followed him up one
by one. Once the hatch closed, the aircraft began to lift off and
disappear into the night sky.
Blond and blue–eyed Eric Howard chuckled. “This wedding was
kinda wild, wasn’t it? Why did you ask about that groom?”

“I feel like I’ve seen him somewhere before,” Daniel mused,
trying to recall the man’s build. There was something familiar
about him.
Eric, scratching his chin, added, “Now that you mention it, he
does seem familiar. Wait a minute… Don’t you think he looks a
bit like His Majesty?!”
Daniel’s brows drew together. “Don’t be absurd! But he is a
Werebeast, and Werebeasts have strong mental powers.
Someone like that probably won’t stay hidden for long. He’s so
young; maybe we’ll run into him again at the Empire
University.“”
“Yeah, right.”
They didn’t know that they had just missed the real answer by a
hair.
Meanwhile, several aircraft marked with the royal crest had
arrived in District III and begun their search.
Erwina had no idea any of this was happening.
She woke up because she was hungry.

Her stomach was growling, and she remembered that she had
been waiting for Wynfield to come back, and with everything

that happened afterward, she hadn’t had a bite to eat.
She glanced down and saw Gus‘ arm still draped around her waist, and his furry tail wrapped around her ankle.
She reached out to move his arm away, but because they were
now legally married, she somehow ended up accidentally
waking up his starphone from standby.
Suddenly, a deluge of messages flooded in.
Erwina didn’t want to check them, but with iris authentication
enabled, and since Gus hadn’t set any filters, they automatically
popped up before her eyes.
The person who sent the most messages was named Leland.
His latest message read: “Uncle Gustav, where are you? Are you
okay?”
“Uncle?” Erwina wondered. “Is Gus that much older in terms of
family hierarchy?”
The moment Gus starphone was activated, it beeped sharply
and sent a location signal to Leland. Erwina was startled and
nearly tumbled off the bed.
“Leland? That name sounds kinda familiar.”

She hurried to access her own starphone to check, but just then,
an electronic voice came from Gus‘ starphone.
“Mrs. Mullen, Leland is His Majesty’s name. Technically,
commoners aren’t allowed to address him by his name, but you
are an exception.”
“W–Why?”
“Because he’s your nephew now. Hello there, I’m Victor,
Commander Mullen’s Smart PC. You can just call me Vic.”
Erwina’s brain nearly overloaded!
All that info came at her like a hammer, making her head spin!
Gus turned out to be the Top Commander of the United Empire
of Planets?!
And he was His Majesty’s uncle?!
She had hooked up with such a big shot and made him her
husband!
That was insane!
She immediately jumped out of bed, threw on her clothes,
grabbed her belongings, and decisively made a run for it!
