Chapter 8 Bickering
Erwina instinctively tried to pull away, but then a thick, pitiful
voice came from above her head.
“I feel terrible…”

“Relax. The exclusive suppressant will be here soon, and you’ll
feel better then.”
“You won’t leave me, right?”
Erwina didn’t know what to say.
That was a tough one to answer. After all, their wedding was a
bit of a mix–up.
Gus seemed a little out of it now. Once he came to his senses, he
might be the one who wanted to leave.
Erwina was about to say something when she felt Gus lean in
and gently touch the corner of her lips, like a kid enjoying candy
-careful, slow, and not wanting to let go.
She shivered all over. This was nothing like the kiss at the
wedding just now!
Chapter 8 Bickering
In that instant, she suddenly understood what it meant to be his
exclusive suppressant.
When she came back to herself, she found Gus gazing at her
with those stunning, jewel–like eyes, now brimming with
unshed tears. His brows were knitted, his expression full of
grievance.
“Erwina…..”
As he spoke, a teardrop slid down his fair cheek, leaving a faint
trail behind.
Erwina’s heart instantly melted.
She had always been fond of this handsome, endearing young
man, and he had helped her out of a big jam just now.
It was only right to return the favor.
Most of all, Gus looked absolutely stunning at the moment!
His tousled bangs fell on his pale forehead, and his dewy eyes
were now misty with tears, filled with boundless trust and
anticipation as they looked up at her.
His furry ears twitched occasionally, and his thick, soft tail was
snugly wrapped around her waist.
Chapter 8 Bickering
She wondered why her mom hadn’t brought the exclusive
suppressant yet.
But she knew that Gus couldn’t wait any longer.
She lowered her gaze slightly, then gave a soft nod. “Okay”

Out in the hallway, Ethan saw Elaine briskly walking away and
hurried after her.
He grabbed her arm, his voice laced with anger. “What the hell
is going on? Why did Wina marry someone else? Who’s that
guy?”
Elaine shook her head. “I don’t know the full story either, but it’s
obvious Wynfield isn’t gonna make it back. Changing the groom
at least makes this wedding a bit less embarrassing. I gotta go
find Wina and figure out what’s happening.”
Ethan’s face darkened. “Well then, I’ll go with you. Wina is
getting out of hand! She thinks she can do whatever she wants?
How am I supposed to explain this to the Cowan family?”
Elaine was left speechless. “Explain? Shouldn’t it be the Cowan
family explaining themselves to us?”
Chapter 8 Bickering
“Forget it. There are business interests involved, and you
wouldn’t understand. Come on, let’s go talk to Wina together!”
Elaine thought of the exclusive suppressant she had gotten
from Spencer and suddenly felt this wasn’t the right moment
for Ethan to be involved.
She tried to be tactful. “Wina isn’t in a good state right now. You
wait here, and I’ll go talk to her first.”
“No! I wanna hear it from her myself!”
Seeing how stubborn Ethan was, Elaine finally lost her temper.
“Why are you so furious? Since Wynfield isn’t coming back, you
should be angry at the Cowan family! I don’t understand the
business stuff, but if Wynfield never showed up today, do you
have any idea how much Wina would get hurt? Are you gonna
let her get randomly married off to some stranger? She chose
that guy herself. She’s happy, and that’s what matters!”
Ethan roared back, “She turned out this spoiled because of you!
If she were even half as sensible as Meg, this wouldn’t have
become such a disgrace!”
Elaine sneered, “A disgrace? Did you even care about Wina’s
feelings when Wynfield stood her up? And now you’ve got the
nerve to tell her to learn from Megan? It was because of Megan

that Wynfield ditched her! After all these years of pampering
Megan, tell me, who’s your real daughter? Is it Wina or Megan?!”
Smack!
The sound of a slap cut through the air, silencing them both.
