Matthew suddenly tightened his grip on Tiffany’s wrist.
She leaned in with a playful smile. “Not telling you. Give me a kiss first, then I’ll talk.”
Looking at her, something in him snapped.
Tiffany looked gentle and sweet, with a curvy figure to match.
She was timid but surprisingly uninhibited in bed.
At first, that contrast fascinated him. But it wasn’t enough to break his rule; no mistress lasts more than a month.
Still, on the day he gave her a breakup gift, she cried so desperately–it felt like she truly loved him.
In her eyes, that shattered look was identical to the way I looked the first time I caught him cheating.
His heart softened.
And that was when he noticed–Tiffany looked eerily similar to me.
I had gotten an ovarian cyst from the stress of his betrayal. I could never conceive again.
The guilt crushed him.
In the Hartoff family, no son meant no stability for a wife.
So he had an idea.

Let Tiffany have a son. Then, adopt the child into my name, as the heir.
Tiffany played it safe. Her occasional tricks didn’t bother him.
But ever since she moved into the Central Park Tower, she’d started making scenes in front of me.
She even dragged Laura into it.
That was Matthew’s final bottom line.

For the first time, he didn’t indulge her. His voice was cold. “Tell me― what’s with the helicopter?!”
Tiffany’s tears welled up instantly.
“I booked it. You promised we’d go watch the moon tonight. I got the helicopter to take the guests too… Was that so wrong?”
Cold sweat slipped down Matthew’s forehead. His spine chilled.
Everything lined up just a little too perfectly.
He could only pray that every word she said was true.
Because if it wasn’t…
Just then, a fleet of rescue helicopters roared past them, flying in the opposite direction.
Matthew yanked open the cabin window and shouted, “Where are you going?!”
But the engine drowned out his roar.
He tore the headset off the pilot’s head, screaming, “Turn around! Now!”

Tiffany pulled her old trick again, clutching her stomach and wailing, “Matt, my belly hurts… We have to go to the hospital…”
This time, there was no pity in his eyes.
He grabbed her chin hard.
“You better have nothing to do with this. Or else—”

Before he could finish, the pilot suddenly shouted, and Matthew’s heart clenched.
The never–burning Central Park Tower was now engulfed in smoke and flames.
The top–level VIPs had already evacuated.
Only the lower floors remained–residents leaping out windows like raindrops.
“Land on the rooftop! Now!”
The pilot and Tiffany both went pale.
“Mr. Hartoff, going down now is suicide!”
But Matthew had completely snapped. He kicked the cabin door, banging it like thunder
Tiffany screamed, tears streaming, grabbing his arm in panic. “Matt, our baby needs his father. Don’t leave us!”
Matthew let out a furious, broken laugh. “And Laura’s father can just abandon her, is that it?!”
Before she could reply, he jumped. No hesitation.

Through the flames, he charged down the stairs like a madman.
The fire lit up his face. Flames licked at his clothes–he didn’t even flinch.

Every woman and every child he passed who collapsed on the floor tore at his heart.
“Please… don’t let it be them…” he thought.
Finally, on the 55th floor, he met the rescue team and nearly dropped to his knees.
His voice trembled. “Where are my wife and daughter?”
The team leader recognized him.

He paused. Then spoke with difficulty. “Among the people we’ve rescued… they’re not there.”
