Chapter 11
At once, the whole hall was in an uproar.
Mandy cried loudly, pulling Marcus and asking him to help find it.
His face turned ashen as he looked at Alicia, who was already completely drunk and unconscious, without saying a word.
Amidst the bustling crowd, the belated Henry and Maria pushed through and walked in.
They looked at the person in front of them who had caused the death of their own daughter, filled with hatred and gritted teeth.
“Since she was caught stealing from the Daston family, who are known for their cleanliness, strip her naked and make her return the stolen items!”
As soon as these words were spoken, the whole audience applauded and cheered, Mandy also showed a happy expression, urging the bodyguards to take action.
Watching as three or four big men started pulling Alicia’s skirt, Marcus, who had been silent for a long time, finally couldn’t bear it anymore and shouted loudly to stop them.
“Enough!”
The next second, the whole scene fell into silence.
Henry and Maria looked shocked, their faces darkening as they gazed over, their voices filled with deep sorrow.

“What does it mean when you call a halt? Marcus, you refused to divorce her claiming it was to torture her even more, and we believed you.”
“But don’t tell us you still love her! Don’t forget, Callie is the one she killed!”
“If you show kindness to this kind of woman, how heartless would your sister in heaven feel!”
Henry and Maria’s almost crying accusations, like two sharp blades, pierced Marcus’s heart with hidden pain.
He felt a mixture of water and fire boiling inside his body, never ceasing.
One wanted him to stop here and not make any more mistakes, while the other said that it was all her own fault and could not be tolerated.
He was tormented by the two curse–like voices, feeling as if his brain was about to explode.
Before reason completely lost control, he suddenly clenched his fists and was about to speak when a dark shadow fell from above.
He looked up and saw the chandelier coming loose, falling straight towards him.
Everyone around screamed and scattered, only he stood still in place.
At the critical moment, a figure suddenly rushed over and pushed him away.
He fell to the ground, looked up in confusion, and saw Alicia, who had been hit by the chandelier and was bleeding from her head.

She lay in a pool of blood, her white dress stained crimson, her body convulsing uncontrollably.
The drunkenness on the face had been taken over by endless pain, and the pupils were gradually dilating.
Seeing this scene, Marcus’s mind thundered, and he was petrified on the spot.
The guests at the scene, however, applauded and cheered, all saying that she deserved it.
Henry and Maria also showed relieved smiles, their voices filled with a sense of satisfaction and revenge fulfilled.
“Heaven has eyes, and finally this wicked woman has received the retribution she deserves!”
“No one is allowed to call 120! Even if she dies here today, it’s her own fault!”
In a daze, Alicia heard these words and finally understood what it meant to be utterly despondent.
Her lips pressed together, wanting to reveal the truth about the car accident. But that faint voice was soon drowned out by the continuous applause.
The people around her receded like a tide over the course of four weeks, and her consciousness grew increasingly dim, yet she could feel a gaze fixed on her the entire time.
She struggled to open her eyes to see who that person was. But only saw Marcus hugging Mandy’s back as they left.
Suddenly, she remembered six years ago, when she was cornered by a

group of thugs in the alley.
It was Marcus who rushed in to save her at the risk of his own life, but he ended up getting stabbed three times and was admitted to the ICU.
The person who was once willing to fight for her with all his might, is ultimately never to be found again.
Tears fell from his eyes, dropping into his blood and merging into one.
Before losing consciousness, Alicia mustered up her last bit of strength and uttered the words that had been on her mind.
“Marcus, from now on, we owe each other nothing…”
