Outside the floor–to–ceiling window, the twilight grew deeper, casting a gentle glow on his face, a stark contrast to the aloofness when they first met at the airport,
“My name is Carice.”
He stood up and pulled out the chair for her, his well–defined fingers lightly resting on the back of the chair.
“Didn’t expect to meet again like this.”
Carice placed the documents gently on the table:“Quite a coincidence.”
As she sat down, she noticed Eddie pushing the menu toward her.
“Let “seat first. Miss Carice, any dietary restrictions?”
Eddie’s slender fingers glided over the dish images: “This restaurant’s Seafood Stew is excellent. Are you allergic to seafood?”
This detail made Carice pause slightly. In the past, when attending dinners with Rufus, he would only order what Annalise liked.
He never cared about her restrictions.
Didn’t even know about her allergies.
“A bit allergic to seafood, but anything else is fine.
She snapped out of her thoughts, “Mr. Sewell, about the contract
Eddie closed the menu and called the waiter, “Work matters can wait until after we’ve eaten.”
During the meal, Eddie skillfully guided the conversation,
From recent industry trends to the scenery of the Netherlands, he carefully avoided any mention of the contract.
Carice took a bite of the tender, slow–cooked beef and had to admit that the deliciousness made it hard to muster the urge to rush back to discussing work.
It wasn’t until the waiter served the final dessert that Eddie leisurely opened the contract
He began reviewing it, occasionally jotting notes in the margins with his fountain pen.
By then, the sky outside the window had completely darkened.
“Miss Carice’s proposal shows great sincerity.”
Eddie pushed the contract back, However, regarding the after-sales terms, I still need to confirm with my team.”
He raised his wrist to check his watch, its face glinting coldly under the light, “It’s too late today. How about we reschedule for tomorrow?
Carice tightened her grip on the edge of the contract
From the moment they met again, Eddie didn’t seem surprised at all.
But she simply stood up with a smile, “Then I’ll trouble you, Mr. Sewell.”
As she stepped out of the restaurant, the sweltering heat of the summer night hit her, leaving her slightly stifled.
Carice had just unlocked her phone when Karen’s call came through:“So? Did you sign the contract?”
“He said he needs more time to consider, Carice replied, watching the flickering neon lights across the street as Eddie’s black sedan slowly merged into traffic, “But this guy is actually quite interesting.”
“Be careful he’s stalling!
Karen’s urgent voice crackled through the phone, Nova Group has been in talks with several companies lately. You need to hurry!”
Carice mated at the unsent contract revision reminder on her phone, then opened the document to review it:“Don’t worry, I know what I’m

doing.”
Gazing at the night outside, she suddenly remembered how Eddie had paused unusually long on a certain page while reviewing the contract
That was precisely the bargaining chip she had intentionally left.
Carice was quite confident about this negotiation, though Eddie did make her somewhat hard to read.
But for some reason, she felt he would definitely agree to sign this order.
This was Carice’s Intuition.
