Chapter 6
She grabbed my sleeve instead, sobbing uncontrollably while stealing a glance at Benjamin’s reaction. Seeing his expression darken, she wailed even louder.
“You insisted on making Alexander drink today–I knew it! You’re well aware he has poor alcohol tolerance. Did you slip something into his cup then?”
My fists clenched tight as rage instantly ignited within me. Even now, she wouldn’t stop trying to destroy me.
Awakened by Shakti’s cries, Alexander caught the accusation in her words and immediately put on an angry face, glaring at me.
He angrily shouted at me: “Emily! I, Alexander, may not be as wealthy as your Reynolds family, but I’ve never treated you unfairly!”
“Why on earth did you drug me and make a fool of me in front of everyone!”
“If you don’t have the guts to own up, I, Alexander, can’t marry a vicious woman like you!”
I almost laughed in anger. He marry me?
Clearly, he’s still eyeing the Reynolds family fortune, dreaming of becoming an heirless–family vulture again.
The atmosphere was tense.
Benjamin suddenly looked at me and asked:

“Why aren’t you speaking up to defend yourself?”
I took a deep breath and, under everyone’s gaze, slowly walked up to Benjamin.
“They say I drugged Alexander, so they should produce evidence to prove I did it.”
“Not make me prove I didn’t. The burden of proof lies with the accuser.
After saying that, I coldly glanced at Alexander, who lay tied up on the ground.
Alexander, how can you prove you only drank the one glass I gave you today?
Alexander froze briefly before scoffing at me: “Then by your logic, you should show evidence that I drank more than one glass.”
What a fool.
His words played right into my hands. Smiling faintly, I turned to the
servant:
“You’re certain you saw me serve Alexander one glass, correct?”
The servant nodded firmly: “Yes, I’m certain I saw it.”
I chuckled, pointing toward Shakti:
“Then do you recall that after I took a glass from your tray, this Miss Johnson also delivered one?”
The servant hesitated, following my gesture. Staring at Shakti, she fell silent.

Shakti desperately turned her head away, not wanting the servant to recognize her face.

But the servant suddenly spoke: “Emily was right. This Miss Shakti also took a glass from me and handed it to Mr. Alexander.”
Benjamin frowned, demanding: “Are you certain?”
The servant nodded firmly again: “Sir, I’m sure. Emily took it first, then Miss Shakti.”
Before Benjamin could respond, Shakti wailed: “Emily! What are you implying? Alexander and I have no relation! Why would I harm him!”
Hearing this, I blinked, a tear rolling down my cheek: “Shakti, since you two have no relation, I can’t imagine why you insisted he drink the wine you gave him.”
Shakti fell silent, instinctively glancing at Alexander, who immediately shouted:
“Emily! Not only did you drug me, but you’d frame your own best friend? How cruel!”
Just then, two figures came running toward the crowd.
My father raised his phone high, panting: “The surveillance footage is out!”
The other person was Benjamin’s family doctor, who looked troubled at Benjamin.
Benjamin paused briefly and said wearily: “Go ahead.”
The family doctor glanced strangely at Alexander and whispered: “Sophia… Sophia is pregnant.”
