The previously calm Adrian became instantly tense and agitated. He grabbed his assistant’s arm, frantically asking, “Where is she? Where’s Jasmine? Tell me!”
A mountain village in the southwest,” the assistant replied, feeling nauseous from being shaken. Adrian’s face lit up with joy. He started to leave, but several shareholders tried to stop him.
Adrian punched the nearest one to the ground. Only Jasmine mattered.
Adrian rushed out of Thornton Industries and sped to the airport.
He drove recklessly, running a yellow light and colliding with a truck at an intersection. His Maybach was crushed; the seat trapped his leg. He frantically unbuckled his seatbelt, yanking at his leg, but it only got wedged tighter.
Within minutes, his leg swelled, blood soaking his trousers.
Fortunately, emergency services arrived promptly and rescued him.
Before they could lift him onto a stretcher, he struggled free, limping forward.
“Don’t stop me. I have to find my wife,” Adrian yelled at the paramedics, ordering them to move.
“Sir, your leg needs immediate treatment. Otherwise, you risk amputation,” the paramedic warned.
Adrian ignored him, continuing to walk. His only thought was to find Jasmine. The year he’d spent without her had been unbearable.
“Jasmine, wait for me,” Adrian murmured.
The next second, he collapsed.
He tried to stand several times but was unable to, eventually succumbing to being taken to the hospital.
Adrian refused treatment, only wanting to be discharged to find Jasmine.
“Let me out! I have to find my wife!”
“Get away from me!”
“Don’t touch me!”
Adrian repeatedly got out of bed, falling each time, only to be carried back.
Eleanor arrived to find him behaving like a madman. She angrily ordered the doctors to sedate him and force treatment.
Adrian was strapped to the bed, glaring at Eleanor, his composure completely gone.
“Let me find Jasmine. Why are you letting them tie me up?”
“Mom, you couldn’t keep your husband, and now you want Jasmine to lose me too?”
Adrian, losing control, spoke recklessly, hitting Eleanor’s weak spot.“Let me find Jasmine!”
Slap!
Eleanor slapped Adrian hard. Her eyes were red with anger.“Adrian, you’ve let me down terribly. No one is stopping you from finding Jasmine. It’s your own fault.”
“This is all your doing. If you’d been more sensible, you wouldn’t have had the accident and wouldn’t be hospitalized. Now you planning to crawl to her?”
you can’t walk. Are
Eleanor trembled with rage, slapping him again. “If I’d known you were like this, I would have stopped Jasmine from marrying you. Think about this. I’m done with you!”
Eleanor turned and left, slamming the door.
Adrian was stunned, realizing he had hurt his mother.
