A month later, I posted a job ad and my
company’s profile on Twitter.
My phone exploded with calls and messages.
My adoptive parents called me first.
As soon as I answered, they started with their
smug, arrogant questions. “Ginger, are you
starting your own business? It’s not as easy as
you think. If you come back now and apologize
to Nannan, begging her to forgive you, we’ll let
you continue working at the company.”
Their condescending tone made me hang up
and block them.
Then I saw that the employees who’d followed
me at the Jones Corporation were sending me their resumes, calling me, and sending
messages, saying they wanted to work at my
company.

I was very touched, but I told them that I was
just starting out, with only $1.3 billion in funds, so there was a risk.
But they all said they wanted to follow me, because I’d saved the Jones Corporation and they believed I could succeed again. They all
trusted me.
I was so grateful. What I needed most right now
was manpower, and they were the people I
knew best and who were most suitable. I
promised to give them slightly higher salaries
than at the Jones Corporation.
In less than a week, I had a full staff. All the
internal and external conditions were met, and
we could start taking on projects.
And it was easy to get business. I just had to
steal the Jones Corporation’s projects. After all, I’d negotiated most of those deals myself. Although my current company couldn’t compare

to the Jones Corporation, I believed in my own
abilities.
Three days later, I met with a key partner of the
Jones Corporation.
I drank myself close to passing out before the
other party agreed to give our company the
cooperation with the Jones Corporation. I was
thrilled.
Because I was drunk, I slept until the afternoon
of the next day. Before I even woke up, the
phone was ringing off the hook.
I answered the phone and heard my assistant
anxiously say, “Ms. Ginger, come to the
company right away! Something’s happened!”
I got out of bed, got dressed, and rushed to the
company.
As soon as I walked in, I was about to ask what

was going on when someone grabbed my hair
from behind and dragged me to the ground.
Then, a slap landed on my face. “You bitch! It
wasn’t enough that you poached our company’s
employees? You even stole our company’s
partnerships! How can you be so shameless
and heartless?”
My face was throbbing, and rage surged
through me. I kicked the person in the stomach,
knocking them off me.
I got up and saw that the person who attacked
me was my adoptive mother.
I immediately charged forward and slapped her
across the face.
Her eyes widened in disbelief, and she pointed
at me and screamed, “You! How dare you hit
me? You unfilial child, hitting your own parents!
You’ll be struck by lightning!”

I glared at her, and she was startled.

My adoptive father quickly stood in front of her. “Ginger, don’t put on that scary act. No matter what, we’re still your parents. How can you hit us? You’re so unfilial!”
I laughed, reminding them, “Did you forget that we’ve broken off all ties? We have nothing to do with each other anymore. You’re not qualified to be my parents. My adoptive grandfather took me in. I saved the Jones Corporation, worked hard, and put so much effort into the company. I’ve repaid your
kindness. If we have any relationship, it’s as
enemies.”
My adoptive mother frowned and sat down at
the entrance of our company, yelling, “We
raised you! Just because we wanted to leave
our property to our real daughter, you’re so
unfilial! You poached most of our company’s
employees and stole our company’s projects!
How can you be so cold–blooded?”
My adoptive father also yelled, attracting attention. “Everyons, come and judge! This is our family’s adopted daughter. Just because we gave our property to our own daughter, she’s trying to sabotage our company, driving us into chaos!”
People gathered around to watch, pointing at
- me.
Someone threw eggs and cabbage leaves at me. “How can someone be so heartless? They took you in, and you’re trying to sabotage their
company?”
