He slammed the door and left.
I didn’t watch him leave, I made myself some
noodles, ate them quickly, then snuggled up in
bed.
I slept through the night.
But I woke up with a high fever.
Luckily, Sarah knew something was wrong and found me.
Ben was gone for a whole month. I had no
<
issues, I was resting and recovering from the
miscarriage. His buddies, for some reason,
were all over me during that month.
They sent me pictures by mistake, or called my
phone by accident.
I was so annoyed, I blocked them all.
After I was healed up, I went to my follow–up at
the hospital, and at a stoplight, I saw Ben and Tiffany.
He was grinning like an idiot as he bought Tiffany a bouquet.
Because his “girlfriend” had said he looked handsome.
I tugged at my coat, wanting to get out of here. But Tiffany spotted me and grabbed my arm.
“Oh, Jo, don’t get me wrong, if you’re mad, you
<
can have these flowers,” Tiffany said, eyes
wide, looking at me.
But there was something mocking in her eyes.
I was annoyed, I pulled my arm away. Suddenly, Tiffany was on the ground.
Ben helped her up, glaring at me. “Jo, you need to stop being so jealous. It’s just some flowers, you could buy them yourself.
“There’s a security camera.”
I pointed at the camera on the traffic light, annoyed.
The light had changed to red.
Tiffany started to panic, she grabbed Ben, and said gently, “It’s fine, Ben, don’t blame Jo, I’m okay.”
く
“You’re so understanding, unlike some people,”
Ben snorted.
I stared at the light, counting down the
seconds. Tiffany suddenly said, “Ben, do you
think that if you jump into a red light, a car would actually hit you?”
“Why don’t we bet? I bet the cars would stop for pedestrians.”
I felt uneasy. I tried to move away from them when Tiffany yelled, “Jo, what do you say?”
“I’m not making a bet.”
I rolled my eyes at her, and took a few steps to
the side. Ben grabbed the back of my coat.
“Jo, Tiffany’s talking to you, where is your respect?”
“Just a little bet, does it bother you that much?”
<
“Let me go!” I was angry.
When there was ten seconds left of the red
light, Ben snorted, “Since you’re not betting,
you can be the stake!”
“Aah!”
He shoved me out into the busy traffic. The
change was so sudden, there was no time for the cars to react.
They rushed towards me.
I was thrown into the air, then slammed back down on the ground. I was in a pool of blood. My whole body felt like it was being ripped apart.
“Jo! Jo!”
I heard Ben’s voice, panicked. He was
frantically running towards me, pulling me into
his arms. “Jo, hold on…”
“B–Ben.” I struggled to get the words out.
“We’re getting a divorce.”
