Emira’s POVE
He called out to me, but I didn’t stop. I just kept walking, slipping my phone into the pocket of my dress.”
“Beta Emira? What marriage?” His footsteps caught up behind me.\
I froze and turned, meeting his eyes. His brows were drawn tight, mouth slightly parted like he wanted to ask more.
“I heard the word ‘marriage.‘ Who’s getting married?“”
I wanted to tell him… it’s me. But why would he care? My chest burned, and I hated myself for it–for still feeling this way after everything. I thought I’d let go. I thought my heart was finally done with him. Guess I was wrong. Some stupid part of me still hoped.
“You’ll find out soon enough,” I said, forcing my voice steady. Then I turned and left him standing there.}
I found myself inside the Wolfcan Pack estate. My grandfather–Anthony Wolfcan–wanted to see me. First time I’d ever meet my mother’s father.
I was alone. His Beta had left me waiting. When the grand double doors swung open, a tall man stepped inside. Same face shape as my mother. Same nose.
“Glad to finally meet you, Emira,” he greeted warmly and pulled me into a hug, full of longing.”
“You look so much like Serena… how I miss my only daughter,” he whispered, sadness thick in his voice as he pulled away, His eyes shining with unshed tears.
“I’m glad you accepted my invitation. I know you read my letter… five years ago.”}
Yeah. The letter where he revealed he was my grandfather. Where he begged me to take the Luna position–the only heir of the great Wolfcan Pack.
I’d said yes back then. Never told anyone. My mother ran from this life, from her birthright. She chose love over power… and paid for it.
And me? I was about to fix that mistake.
“I also heard you’ve agreed to marry Alpha Zared of the Bloodfang Pack,” he said as we sat in the grand veranda of the main house.
I answered without blinking. “Yes. It’s not a bad idea.“”
I thought he’d be angry… but he only smiled in relief. My brows drew together. Everyone knew Alpha Zared had been comatose for years.
“Why the smile?” I asked, suspicion stirring.
His grin widened. “Because this way… you’ll be free. No Alpha breathing down your neck. You’ll run the pack as you please.”
I paused. Thought about it. Huh. Maybe Grandpa was right. I smiled faintly. “Sounds good, Grandpa.“”
He reached out, patted my hand. “And if you want to merge the packs later… that’s fine too. You’d be the Alpha of two great houses.”
My mouth fell open. “I.. I don’t want that, Grandpa.“”
He chuckled. “I’m kidding. But you could, if you wanted. You’ve got Serena’s fire. You’ll rule just fine.”
I smiled… but deep down, I wasn’t so sure.
Later, I went to the Werewolf City graveyard, holding a single red peony–my mother’s favorite flower.
Standing before her grave, my lips trembled. The ache never left. I still wished that night had never happened. Maybe she’d still be here.
I tilted my head to the sky, holding back tears. Breathed deep. Closed my eyes.
I sat beside the stone, tears slipping free as I smiled. “Mama… if you were here, I know we’d be running through the forest… playing by the stream… you’d sing me to sleep. I miss those days.“”
I laid the flower down, fingers brushing the cold stone. “I’m getting married, Mama. I know you wouldn’t want this… but if I can’t have my mate… the man I love… then at least I can give him the happiness he wants.“N
Back at the estate, I packed the last of my things. I wouldn’t miss this place. Only my mother’s keepsakes mattered–her photos, little trinkets. The rest? Sold.
My wolf stayed quiet. Still weak. Still grieving.
I took a breath as the workers carried out boxes… when Luther showed up, confusion in his eyes.
“What’s this? You moving?”
I ignored him and handed him a small wooden box. “You need to go to Bluemoon Pack. Give this to my father.”
He hesitated. “What is this, Beta Emira?“}
8:13 AM
I ignored him and handed him a small wooden box. “You need to go to Bluemoon Pack. Give this to my father.“”
He hesitated. “What is this, Beta Emira?“}
“He’ll explain. Just give it to him. Alone.“\
“You’re not coming?” he asked, frowning.”
“No. You have to do this. Tell him it’s from me. Then leave.”
“I should help you move-”
“Do this first. Diana’s waiting for you there, remember?” I said, my voice low but firm.
His eyes flickered. Caught off guard. But he nodded and left quickly.”
I watched him go… bitter smile tugging at my lips. I hope you’ll be happy, Luther.
The car rolled to a stop at the Werewolf City airport. I stepped out, dragging my suitcase behind me. Bloodfang Pack was far… a different continent in the southern realm. Strong. Prominent.<
While the North realmed was held by the Blue Crescent Pack.
I tossed my phone into the trash before boarding the flight.”
I was done.
