Oliver looked at my wrist with concern, softly blowing on it. Anyone watching probably would’ve been
chocked.
To most people, Oliver was this cold, ruthless guy–tough on his enemies and not even soft with Henry. But that image made sense, given where he came from.
He was the result of a reckless one–night encounter between Hugo Basom and a hostess. The woman raised him in secret until he turned three, aiming to secure a spot in the Basom family through him. But unexpectedly, the family only took Oliver in.
Before he turned five, Oliver didn’t even have a name. I stumbled across him in the backyard with a high fever one day.
I rushed to Henry for help and managed to save his life. After that, he finally started getting better care. At 18, Oliver decided to leave the Basom family and founded his own company.
Unlike the other brothers who were still riding on the Basom name, Oliver was already way ahead.
Noticing I was quiet, Oliver assumed I was thinking about someone else.
Without hesitation, he lifted his hand and vowed, “I, Oliver, promise to cherish Amy like a princess forever!”
A wave of warmth and joy filled my heart. A sensation unfamiliar to me in my previous two lifetimes.
I nodded and gently said, “Okay.”

After learning my room at the Basom’s residence had been switched out, Oliver immediately brought me back to his apartment.
Surprisingly, the phone wouldn’t stop ringing that night. Out of habit, I picked it up. Eric’s
panchoed through the line.
“Amy, why haven’t you come back to the Basom’s residence?
“Staying out overnight with a man, at your age? Grandpa would never be okay with this.
‘Come back now, and maybe I’ll forgive you.”
I hung up the phone without any expression.
The following day, I went back to the Basom’s residence with Oliver. Henry was shocked to see me.
I explained how the Basom brothers had forced me into the maid’s quarters. Henry slammed his hand on the table, rattling the teacup.
“Ridiculous! This is unacceptable!”
“Just a maid’s…” He abruptly stopped, casting a frosty look at the butler standing nearby. Sweat began to form on the butler’s brow.
He immediately dropped to his knees and stammered, “Sir Basom, it was Mr. Eric’s idea. We wouldn’t dare defy him!”
Henry’s hand shook as he clutched his cane and spoke firmly, “Go and get Jessica’s things out of here. Now!”
He then turned to me with a gentle expression.
“Amy, don’t worry! I’ll make sure those two brothers leave the Basom’s residence immediately. They won’t trouble you any longer.”

I nodded and started talking about the wedding with Oliver.

Suddenly, Eric’s furious voice echoed from the doorway. “Who told you to do this?”
He stormed in, dragging Jessica along. Adam was nowhere in sight.
He marched up to me, pointed accusingly, and snapped, “Amy, I already lowered myself to marry you. Why are you targeting Jessica again?”
Before I could reply, Henry slapped him.
“I told the butler to get rid of her stuff. The daughter of a maid. After all this time, the Basom family has extended more than enough generosity to her! She’s leaving, and you’re also going to leave the Basom’s residence immediately!”
Eric stood still, completely stunned.
“Grandpa, why? You’re really planning to pass the Basom family to that illegitimate kid? Is he really worthy of it?”
Henry stared at him with disappointment, shocked at how arrogant his oldest grandson had turned out.
“Now that Amy’s marrying him, Oliver will become the head of the Basom family!”
Eric looked at me in shock.
“Amy, didn’t you always want to be my wife? I talked to Jessica. You can be my main wife, and she’ll be the secondary. I promise I won’t treat you unfairly…”
After he finished speaking, he gave Jessica a significant glance. With teary eyes, Jessica knelt in front of me.

“Amy, don’t worry! I won’t compete with you for Eric. I’m fine, just seeing him now and then.”
She looked at Eric with affection, a few tears still lingering at the corners
of her eyes.
Before I could respond, Oliver stepped in front of me.
“That’s unnecessary. My wife doesn’t need to share her husband with anyone! And stay away from Amy!”
