Adam shook his head, giving me a helpless look. stubborn!”
They both took Jessica and walked off without even looking back.
The following day, I was jolted awake by a splash of cold water in my face. Eric glared down at me.
“Grandpa has approved my marriage to Jessica. Get out of this room now! You won’t marry Adam, so the only way you’re staying in the Basom family is as a maid.”
A chill wind blew, causing me to shiver. Behind him, Jessica gazed at me smugly.
“Eric, Amy’s room gets such great sunlight. Unlike mine, which is small and damp.”
Eric softly patted her hand, offering comfort. “If you like the room, let her move out now! A maid shouldn’t be staying in such a nice room.”
He then glanced at me with disdain.
At that moment, Adam walked in and overheard the conversation, his tone both gentle and harsh.
“Amy, it’s still not too late to reconsider. Just kneel and apologize to Jessica!”
My nails pressed hard into my palms as I restrained myself from giving anything away.

I quickly made my way to the maid’s quarters. As Eric observed the small, cramped space, his brows knitted together, and he appeared somewhat hesitant.
Jessica, however, took his hand and coquettishly asked, “Eric, can we go shopping?”
With a gentle tap on her nose, Eric agreed indulgently. To my surprise, they insisted I join them, and I ended up carrying Jessica’s shopping bags.
As we moved along, Eric waved his hand, purchasing all the luxury items Jessica desired, while I struggled behind them, laden with a dozen packages.
Just as we were getting ready to leave, a runaway car unexpectedly veered off the road and sped directly toward us.

In shock, everyone stood still, but someone pushed me from behind. I stumbled forward, and a sharp pain shot through my ankle.
When I glanced up, I saw Jessica already safely cradled in the arms of the Basom brothers.
As the car approached, my heart raced frantically, and my whole body shook with fear.
Clenching my jaw, I begged the Basom brothers, “Please, help me!”
Eric winced a little, but Jessica held onto him tightly. “Eric, my stomach
hurts…”
In a rush, he picked her up and dashed toward the hospital. Adam gave me a quick look and followed without a second thought.
In that moment, it felt like I’d been dropped into an ice–cold pit–like my blood just froze. I shut my eyes, bracing for death as the screeching car barreled toward me.

But just as the impact seemed inevitable, someone crashed into me from
behind-
Strong arms wrapped around me as we tumbled to the pavement, rolling out of the car’s deadly path.
When I opened my eyes, I was in Oliver’s arms. His face was scratched and smeared with blood, gravel embedded in his skin.
But his gaze-
Worried. Fierce. Desperate. Like I was something he couldn’t bear to lose.
“Oliver!” I gasped. “Are you hurt?”
He shook his head, brushing the hair from my eyes with trembling fingers, and helped me to my feet. Without thinking, I threw my arms
around him.
His body stiffened. His ears turned red. He slowly raised his hands, hesitating, like he wasn’t sure if he was allowed to touch me.
I remembered the message I sent him the day before. He never replied.
Heart pounding, I tugged gently at his sleeve
“Oliver… will you marry me?”
He froze. His lips parted. Then pressed into a thin line.
My chest tightened. I looked away.
“It’s okay… if you don’t want to-”
“I do.”
