That night, I was at last able to let out a sigh of relief.
A few days had passed since the press conference had uneventfully passed, and my nerves had dissipated. I was happy to have spoken so calmly and presented strong evidence to silence them.8
The masses were starting to wake up, and the name Moretti, once recklessly brought down by Nolan, was respected again even feared.
I had no idea what Valerie and Nolan were doing nowadays. Maybe they concealed somewhere, covering their faces from the storm they had provoked upon themselves. Maybe, though, they were watching their lives fall apart from real evidence, not bad acting and tears on stage.
Evening, I turned off the light in the bedroom, pulled the blanket over myself, and decided to close my eyes.

A hand slid silently behind me and pulled my body into a hug. The hug was calm and so familiar.!
I wasn’t scared for a moment. In fact, there was a strange warmth in it. The hug was familiar, and my instincts questioned.

Then I heard a voice that turned out not to be Vincent’s.
“Scarlett. I missed you, baby.”
My eyes suddenly flew wide open.
With trembling hands, I navigated the darkness around the bed and switched on the light. At once, the room lit up
And when I whirled around, Nolan was in my bed.!!
I sprang, and was up from bed in an instant.
“Nolan? How did you get in here?” my voice broke.!
Nolan got up from my bed and d deeper into my territory. He grinned, though it was a frightening one. Then he maniacally
laughed.
“I snuck in, baby. They were all occupied, not even one noticed I came to take you away.”
My body became rigid. The air became chillier.9
“No way! Security is too tight here, and there’s no way you would be able to get in by yourself.“}
Nolan just smiled, and I walked towards opening my balcony door.
And where I was, I could see some guards on the ground not moving. Their bodies hung limply, some supported against the wall, others lying on the wet grass. My eyes opened wide and my body quivered.!!
Far away, in dark garden of the mansion, was Valerie with some men.
She was continuing to slowly wave to me with a white handkerchief in her hand. The faint smile on her face was nothing but sarcasm- full of pride for her successful coup.
“So. Scarlett? Are you impressed enough with what I’ve done?” Nolan broke the awkward silence.
I stared at him hard, and it all became clear. Valerie and Nolan had sedated in order to do this penetration silently.
“Get out, Nolan! I have positively no desire to surrender to you, much less return with you. You’re dreaming up too much, I said coldly, my gaze fixed.%
His face set in a stiff expression, then relaxed to the same fake nice smile he had on his face when he was attempting to lie.!!
“I’m here to pick you up and our baby, sweetheart. Let’s live our child together. Don’t you get it? I’m going to take responsibility for everything. Let’s go back and start over our life to be the couple that everyone is jealous of.”
I let out a bitter laugh
“Baby? What do you mean by that child?”
I glared at him intensely, letting the sentence hang in the air for a few seconds.K
“My baby has been away a long time, Nolan. And now you’re asking about it?”
Nolan did not say anything, his brow furrowed. His eyes looked puzzled.
“What do you mean? Scarlett, I have no idea what you are talking about ”
I took a slow breath and stepped closer to him. My gaze was sharp as a knife.!!
“Recall you saw me sitting at the bottom of the hospital stairs? You were with Valerie then.“X
Nolan stiffened. His eyes opened wide.
“Valerie was the one who pushed me downstairs. And do you know what pierced my heart? When I was preparing to take you that good news, but was instead met by the red stuff oozing between my legs.”
I closed my eyes for a moment before opening them and staring right into Nolan’s.
1:30 PM
“I miscarried, Nolan! And you chose to save Valerie over me and your unborn baby.”
My eyes began to bum. As soon as I blinked, tears streamed down my face.
“No. No way, Scarlett!” Nolan cried out in frustration, scrubbing his hands through his hair.!!
“That’s the truth. You left with Valerie, leaving me all by myself on the ground while I lost the baby you never even got to call your child.”.
Nolan’s mouth dropped open but nothing left it. His eyes now registered a mix of regret and confusion.
“So enough! Don’t come to me going on about love and responsibility, Nolan. You destroyed it all!”
Nolan’s eyes froze.
That confident look on him just a little while ago disintegrated with what I had told him
He choked up, as though the entire universe he’d constructed in his own obsession had fallen apart right in front of his eyes. He took a half step back and inhaled as if to argue, but no words came to change the truth I’d just spewed.
“Scarlett.. I didn’t know…” His voice cracked.
I watched him crumble. But I was not sick enough of being that woman who sympathized with wounds he self–inflicted.”
I looked at the door to my bedroom. This was a chance. I made a dash for the door. My fingers hovered to reach for the handle and fling open the door, but then.
Nolan’s hand wrapped around my wrist.
“No! I will not let you leave me again,” he thundered.
With one quick motion, he pulled me back, and before I could squirm, my body was trapped in his arms behind me.
My hands were behind me, my body jammed between his arms and his quivering chest
“I’m not going to let you go, Scarlett. he panted roughly in my ear. “If our baby is gone, I’ll try to accept it. But you. Never.
His hot breath along the side of my neck had me at an angry climax.
1 struggled. Straining, turning, kicking mid–air But his grip was shackles fashioned by obsession and sorrow.
“Let me go, Nolan!” I screamed.
“Until you hear me out!” he told me, his voice more frantic.
I went quiet. My breathing was ragged. I knew that physical strength would not be enough against his crazed resolve that shut out all sense. So. I used another rule.”
A low growl issued from my shuddering chest.
“All right. I give up.“8
His arms unclenched somewhat.
“Perhaps. I truly need to come back to you, Nolan. Because I know, I still love you.”
I lowered my head, shut my eyes.

Nolan pressed his face against the side of mine. I could feel a small smile creep onto his lips out of the corner of my eye. A smile of victory.
And in that moment, my leg came up and knocked solidly onto his knee.
He cursed and let me go, his body falling to the floor straight away.
“You crazy bitch!”
Nolan tried to get up with a flushed face, he picked up the vase on the table and hurled it at me. But the vase was hurled against the wall and the shattered glass swirled and cut my arm. I shrieked in agony from the cut.
I dropped to the ground, biting down, holding my bloody arm.
Then heavy clattering footfalls filled the room as I screamed.!!
Vincent, and there he had stood in the doorway, panting. His keen eyes immediately zeroed in on Nolan, who was wheezing on the floor and then on me, lying in pain on the floor.”
