Chapter 18
Typhoon Nadya remained stable and performed steadily.
The band manager sat in the audience, smiling throughout the entire performance.
It was Jenny’s turn to perform.
When Nadya passed by her, she wished she could have lifted her nostrils to the sky.
She was arrogant: “Jenny, didn’t you see the satisfied expression on the band manager’s face towards me? If I were you, with a useless hand, what’s the point of performing? It’s better to just sneak back home now, at least I can save some face.”
“See if I will give you face later!”
With a determined look in her eyes, Jenny walked to the center of the stage with her guitar.
All the lights dimmed, leaving only a beam of light shining down on the spot where she stood.
This was the effect she communicated with the lighting technician in advance.
Although she and Nadya played the same piece of music, the piece was warm with a touch of sadness. Nadya only played the warmth in the music, but missed that thread of sadness.
Jenny felt that the thread of sadness was the soul of this song.
Chapter 15
She adjusted the lighting just to immerse herself more, in order to interpret the emotions deep within the music.
As the song ended and the lights returned to normal, Jenny slowly raised her head and looked down at the stage, only to find the band manager in
tears.
She said, “It’s easy to make people laugh, but it’s hard to make them cry. I think Jenny is the violinist that our band wants as the concertmaster!”
“What!”
Nadya’s reaction was huge!
She grabbed the band manager as if she had gone crazy: “Jenny’s hand was seriously injured, she couldn’t fully recover! It will be a problem if you let her be the first chair!”
Jenny knew that Nadya would expose the truth, but she herself had no intention of hiding it.
She bowed to the band manager and said, “I did indeed suffer an injury, but with the help of a skilled doctor, I have recovered a lot. I can play independently for half an hour without any problems. So, I may need some time to recover after joining the band, but I will be able to handle the position of concertmaster.”
With tears still in her eyes, the band manager nodded and said, “Jenny, I believe in you. The band welcomes you…”
Jenny didn’t expect it to go so smoothly. She reached out her hand to shake hands with the
manager.
But she didn’t expect that, Nadya, on the side, would crazily take out a dagger and stab the tip of the knife straight into Jenny’s palm…
Chapter 18
“I couldn’t kill you last time, so today I will cut your tendons!”
Nadya looked ferocious, the band manager was so scared that he could barely let go of Jenny’s hand, and behind Jenny happened to be a piano, there was no way to avoid it…
Seeing the blade already piercing Jenny’s hand, suddenly a hand reached out from the side and grabbed the cold light of the dagger.
Jenny turned her head blankly, “….Samuel?”
Samuel tightly gripped the dagger, preventing Nadya from stabbing any further.
Blood gushed from his palm, dripping onto the ground…
‘Sammy, you…”
She saw that Samuel’s whole hand was stained red with blood before she came to her senses and released the dagger.
“Sammy, I didn’t mean to, why would you come to Jenny’s defense?”
“Weren’t you… Weren’t you the one who hated Jenny chasing after you relentlessly, willing to fake your own death just to get rid of her?”
“Sammy, were you trying to prevent me from committing a crime? Were you thinking about my future?”
Nadya quickly convinced herself that Samuel had blocked the knife to protect her from making a mistake.
After all, no matter what outrageous things she had done to Jenny in the past, he never had any objections.
Even if she wanted Jenny to be her dog, he didn’t mind.
Chapter 18
“Sammy, you must have known that I was here for the assessment, that’s why you came to find me, right?”
“The last time you left without saying goodbye, I was so sad…‘
Nadya said with her usual coquettish expression and opened her arms to hug Samuel.
But before her hand could touch Samuel, Samuel suddenly reached out and grabbed her by the throat.
