“I don’t believe it!” Jackson yelled. “You loved me so much–you lost your wolf just to save me. Why won’t you give us another chance?”
“That’s because, just like you, I was trapped in an illusion,” I retorted.
I mistakenly thought he was the young boy behind the wooden mask, and he mistakenly believed Laila was truly a good
person.
I explained the misunderstanding from back then, and Jackson’s expression became increasingly fearful. “I don’t believe it. It wasn’t an illusion of love. You love me, don’t you?”
He stood up and tried to embrace me, but a pair of hands stopped him.
At some point, Waylon had appeared beside us, standing protectively between Jackson and me.
“My dear.” Waylon ignored Jackson and turned to me. “Why don’t you go try on the wedding dress first? I’ll come find you a bit later, alright?”
I nodded helplessly and left first.
I knew Waylon had always been bothered by the fact that I lost my wolf because of that wooden mask, and he wanted an opportunity to teach Jackson a harsh lesson.
Because I was once Jackson’s mate, Waylon was worried that if he acted, people would think I had ordered him to do it and that the rumors would hurt me.
This time, Jackson’s harassment of me in public finally gave Waylon an excuse to take revenge.
I didn’t stop him because I no longer cared what happened to Jackson.
But when Waylon returned later on, I would definitely have a headache figuring out how to soothe his jealousy.
Chapter 12
Still, that was okay by me.
I smiled and continued driving to the bridal shop.
Waylon’s love made me believe that we could overcome all difficulties together.
