Chapter 5
A brief silence.
Then came even more vicious mocking laughter!
“She said she’s the heiress of Watson Group?”
“The richest man is her dad? Is she crazy, or has she been shocked into stupidity? Starting to talk nonsense?”
“Oh my god, if you’re the Watson heiress, then I’m the President of the United States!”
Sarah laughed so hard she was doubled over, tears streaming down her
face.

“Watson heiress? The Watson heiress is engaged to the heir of MGM Grand Hotel–she’s my brother Steven Garrett’s fiancée! I won’t even ask you to call your billionaire dad out anymore. If you’re so capable, get your fiancé to come teach us a lesson!
“Really bragging without thinking it through, how ridiculous.”
In this ultimate humiliation, a familiar figure walked over.
It was James.
He was dressed in a sharp suit, elegant and refined. When he saw me, a flash of surprise and pity crossed his eyes.
“Linda? Sarah? What’s going on here?”
He looked at the mess and my pitiful state being pinned to the ground,

frowned, then looked down at me condescendingly.
“Linda, how did you end up like this? Did you cause trouble again?
“But as long as you ask me, beg me to help you, for the sake of our past relationship, I might be able to help you with this loss…”
Before he could finish his sentence, there was suddenly a commotion at
the hotel entrance.
The crowd of onlookers quickly cleared a path.
“It looks like Steven. He is so tall and handsome!”
“Of course, an elite raised by a top wealthy family, how could his presence be ordinary?”
A strikingly handsome man in a perfectly tailored pure black custom suit strode in.
His gaze locked precisely on me. The moment he saw me pinned to the ground, disheveled and messy, his expression turned extremely dark.
“What are you doing?!” The man’s voice was like an ice–cold blade, instantly cutting through the noisy laughter.
The entire hotel lobby fell completely silent.
He strode to me in a few steps, his deep eyes sweeping over the people holding me down, speaking in an icy tone,
“Let her go!” His command was brief but left no room for argument.
The hands that had been holding my arms suddenly released me as if burned.
The smugness on Sarah’s face instantly froze, turning deathly pale. She
instinctively stepped back half a step, her lips trembling. The words. “Steven…” got stuck in her throat, barely audible, filled with undisguised
terror.
The few cronies around Sarah couldn’t help but speak up.
“Sarah, with your brother here, what do we have to fear? Now have yo brother kick this delivery girl out!”
your
“Sarah, why are you so nervous? Didn’t you say your brother loves you the most?”
“Mr. Garrett, you should just throw this poor woman out!”
Steven looked at my coat stained with wine and glass shards, pressing his lips together tightly.
“Linda, why are you still behaving like when we were kids, always failing. to protect yourself?”
“Hm?” I looked at the man’s handsome face.
Only then did I dare to confirm that he really was that neighbor who used to follow me around everywhere when we were children.
Steven.
Before I could say much more, he directly took off his expensive custom suit jacket and draped it over my disheveled form without hesitation.
His movements were gentle, as if handling a treasured object.
“Steven…” Sarah’s face instantly drained of color when she saw Steven. The smugness and malice from moments before vanished without a trace, leaving only undisguised panic.
She tried to force a smile, but her voice trembled.

“Don’t misunderstand, it was this woman… She broke the hotel’s wine, and she was here pretending to be…”
“Pretending to be what?” Steven interrupted her, his tone carrying bone- chilling coldness.
“Sarah, tell me, what does my fiancée, Mr. Watson’s only daughter, Linda, need to pretend to be?”
