Chapter 9

I furrowed my brow. “Alpha Nicola? Who told you my address?”

Alpha Nicola’s voice softened. “I had someone look it up, Elisa. Don’t be scared, I just wanted to talk to you.”

I felt Goden’s grip on my hand tighten, his fingers cold as iron around me.

I patted him gently, signaling for him to go ahead.

He hesitated, glancing back at me three times, but finally turned and walked away.

I couldn’t help but smile at his lingering concern.

Alpha Nicola sniffled, his voice carrying a slight quiver, almost like he was on the verge of tears. “Elisa, are you okay?”

I froze, my expression hardening. “If it wasn’t for your interruption, tonight would’ve been a good night.”

His eyes glinted with something strange, as though he were trying to peer through me, searching for something I couldn’t understand.

A shiver ran down my spine.

“What do you want, Alpha Nicola?”

He shook his head slowly. “My parents miss you. They’ve been talking about you non-stop. I heard someone spotted you, so I had someone trace your whereabouts.”

“Nothing else… just wanted to see how you’re doing.”

I didn’t let my guard down. “Well, you’ve seen it now.”

“I’m doing just fine. Tell my uncle and aunt to take care of themselves, I’ll go visit them later.”

I turned to leave, my gaze falling on Goden, who was standing under a tree, looking slightly bored.

I quickened my pace and jogged toward him.

“Let’s go.”

Alpha Nicola POV

I’ve been reborn.

The initial excitement was overwhelming. I thought I could fix everything, do everything over again. But when I stepped out of my house, I found it had all changed.

The villa was gone. Elisa’s scent was gone.

The house was empty.

I panicked, running through the place, searching frantically, but she was nowhere to be found.

“Mom, Dad, where is Elisa?!”

“Where did she go?”

My parents looked older, far older than before. Their hair had grayed significantly.

Mother cast me a cold, indifferent glance.

“Why are you looking for her? Wasn’t it you who kicked her out?”

“Don’t keep thinking about Elisa. It’s your fault, and she’ll never forgive you.”

The joy I had felt moments ago turned to dust in my mouth.

It was as if my heart was torn out, scraped clean with a cold, merciless blade, leaving only an empty, hollow feeling that chilled me to the bone.

As I pressed them for more information, my parents reluctantly shared the truth about what I had done in this life.

It seemed that from the day of her birthday, Elisa had started acting differently.

She, too, had been reborn. Perhaps, like me, she could understand what I was going through.

I started searching for Elisa, but the trail was cold.

I had hurt her too deeply.

I couldn’t find a single lead on her. It was as though luck itself had abandoned me.

Six months later, I ran into an old friend by chance.

I was no longer the proud Alpha Nicola I once was.

I greeted my old friend, and in passing, he told me he had seen Elisa.

“She’s with Alpha Goden, in the Golden PACK.”

The name struck me like a blow to the chest. Alpha Goden? The rival alpha who had always been a thorn in my side?

But now, Elisa was with him?

I couldn’t believe it, but I had no choice but to prepare myself and go see her.

I dressed sharply, straightened my appearance, and made my way to her.

But when I arrived, what I saw shattered me.

There she was, walking hand in hand with another man, laughing softly, her steps light and carefree.

My heart sank. I stood frozen, the scene before me like a blade cutting through my chest.

“Elisa!”

I called her name, desperate, but she only turned to look at me.

She was displeased, her expression cold and irritated, as if she wished I would just leave her alone.

“What do you want?” she asked, her voice sharp.

I swallowed hard, trying to keep my composure. “Are you happy?”

Her gaze softened just a little as she replied, her voice devoid of any warmth. “I’m fine.”

My heart twisted, and I could feel the weight of her indifference crushing me.

“Well, that’s good… at least you’re alive.”

I couldn’t bring myself to say more. The words hung heavy between us, suffocating me.

She had moved on.

And I was nothing but a fading memory in her past.

I stood there, a werewolf without a pack, a man who had lost everything, unable to reach the woman I had once loved.

The fates had given me another chance, but what was the point, when she was no longer mine to claim?

I turned and walked away, the sound of her footsteps fading behind me, leaving only the silence of my regrets.

This time, I was truly alone.
