Chapter 8

Sara’s voice trembled. “Elisa, you have to listen to me. Sasha’s not letting up. She’s telling everyone that you’re the one who caused her miscarriage. You’ve got to fix this before it’s too late.”

The words hit me like a slap. My fists clenched, and a bitter laugh escaped my lips. Sasha, always so good at manipulating everyone around her, had somehow twisted this entire situation in her favor.

But not this time.

I immediately dialed Alpha Nicola’s number, my hands shaking with fury.

“Nicola,” I snarled, “Give Sara the footage. Let her see the truth about Sasha’s so-called miscarriage. You’ve got to clear my name.”

His voice, calm and insufferably smooth, came through the line. “Elisa, if you want to clear your name, then come back. The footage is at my house. All you need to do is come to me, and I’ll give you everything you need.”

I froze for a moment, the audacity of his words washing over me. “What?” I whispered, my voice laced with disbelief. “You’re actually going to bargain with me? Over a damn apology and your so-called ‘truth’?”

His voice dripped with insincerity as he continued, “I know what Sasha really is now. I’m done with her. And I’m ready to be with you, Elisa. All you have to do is come back to me, and everything will be set right.”

A sick, nauseating feeling churned in my stomach.

But before I could respond, the disgust was too much to bear, and I slammed my finger onto the end call button, cutting him off without another word.

The damage had been done, though. Sara was demanding the footage, and now Sasha’s lies would start to unravel.

I quickly tossed my old phone aside and changed my number.

Every last trace of Alpha Nicola’s existence was erased from my life.

I deleted his friends, removed every connection, and told myself I would never fall into his trap again.

Months passed, and as much as I tried to move on, the past always had a way of creeping back into my life. Then one evening, scrolling through the news, I saw a headline that made my blood run cold.

“Sasha Flees After Scamming Alpha Nicola Out of $20 Million. Investigation Reveals She Was Dating Five Men Simultaneously, Including Nicola, During Their Relationship.”

A cold smile tugged at the corner of my mouth. The truth was finally out, and it was everything Sasha deserved.

I leaned back, letting out a breath I didn’t realize I’d been holding. It was over. Finally.

Later that night, I came home to the familiar warmth of my own house. The scent of food wafted through the air, and I smiled to myself.

As I walked through the door, I heard soft footsteps approaching. Alpha Goden appeared in the doorway, wearing a floral apron that barely covered his strong frame.

“You’re back!” he said with a grin, his eyes lighting up. “I’ve already set up your bath. Go ahead and wash up, and dinner will be ready by the time you’re done.”

I couldn’t help but laugh, the sound of it pure joy. This was what happiness felt like—simple, grounded, and full of warmth. I rushed to him, wrapping my arms around his broad
shoulders, my heart swelling with love.

“You’re perfect,” I whispered, my voice thick with emotion.

Goden kissed the top of my head, then pulled out a small velvet box from his pocket. He opened it to reveal a ring, shimmering in the soft light. My heart skipped a beat.

“Elisa,” he said softly, his eyes full of love and sincerity. “Will you be my Luna?”

Tears welled in my eyes as I smiled, nodding. “Yes. Yes, of course, I will.”

But just as the happiness was sinking in, I heard the familiar voice that made my blood run cold.

“Elisa…”

I froze, my heart dropping into my stomach. The voice—his voice—.

I turned slowly, my stomach churning as I saw Alpha Nicola standing there, his figure silhouetted in the dark doorway. His eyes were bloodshot, the veins under his skin pulsing with tension.

“Elisa…”
