As I left the Kilbreth’s mansion, I headed to a café.
Sophie was already seated when I arrived. She noticed the cut on my cheek and raised an eyebrow. “Ms. Lomberie, it seems you’ve faced quite a bit of trouble since waking up.”

I understood that Sophie’s resentment stemmed from an incident at a banquet Kelly hosted.

Seeing I was set on it, Sophie finally relaxed, patted my shoulder, and started telling me about all the trending news in Los Angeles while I was in a coma.
I looked down at the video.
It showed David celebrating Kelly’s birthday, holding her hand from behind as they cut the cake.
Owen tugged at Kelly’s skirt, his face beaming. “Happy birthday, Kelly! I hope you become my mom soon!”
Kelly covered her mouth with a coquettish smile, patting his head. “Owen, don’t talk nonsense.”
But David grabbed her hand and placed it over his heart. His eyes were deep and loving. “It’s not nonsense.”
With that, he knelt on one knee, took out a pink diamond ring from his pocket, and proposed to her. “Kelly, will you marry me?”
Onlookers who knew about his plans cheered loudly.
