Chapter 5

I clenched my fists and forced the tears back down my throat. I’d cried enough for them.

“No,” I said, louder this time. “We don’t need to draw anything.”

“I don’t even like either of them.”

Gasps ricocheted around the room like a shot.

But it wasn’t the grown-ups or the guests who looked the most stunned.

It was the damn twins.

Logan whipped around to face me, eyes blazing, jaw clenched so tight I could hear his teeth grind. “You’re lying.”

“You’re with us all the time, Savvy. You don’t even talk to other guys.”

“How the hell could you like someone else?”

He always had that wildfire energy. Now it was a goddamn inferno. His voice sliced the room in half.

I flinched, my body instinctively recoiling from the heat. “I-I do like someone… someone else. But he’s—he’s still family.”

Logan’s whole face changed. The anger melted into something crueler. Amusement.

“Oh, this I gotta hear.”

“Who in this family is hotter than us, huh? Who managed to catch your eye, princess?”

He thought I was bluffing. Hell, maybe I was. Even Landon looked up at me now, his stare cool and direct.

“Who is it?”

My brain scrambled. My pulse was a damn jackhammer. I fidgeted with my nails like they might save me.

My eyes darted around the room, looking for an escape. Any name. Any face.

And then—
