Blake saw Harrington and burst into tears. He
scrambled over to him.
“Dad! You came to save me! You have no idea
what she’s been doing to me!”
He pointed at me. “She locked me in a cell and
wouldn’t let me sleep. She fed me garbage!”
I gave him a sweet smile. “But you ate every bite, didn’t you, Blake?”
It’s amazing what people are capable of. I had
them fed one meal a day of rancid slop.
At first, Blake ranted about being the CEO of Harrington Enterprises and said he’d rather
starve than eat that crap.
But after three days of hunger, survival instinct
kicked in. They fought over every bite, not even
letting a single grain of rice go to waste.
Blake’s face twisted with hate. “You witch!
Now that my dad’s here, you’re finished…”
God is fair, I guess. He gave Blake a pretty face
and took away his brains.
He didn’t get to finish his threat. Harrington
<
slapped him hard. “You idiot! Are you trying to
kill me? Get on your knees and apologize to
Miss Sterling!”
Blake stared at his dad, shocked and confused.
“Dad, why should I apologize? She’s been
torturing me for a week! You should be helping
me get revenge, not siding with her!”
Harrington looked helpless.
But because my mom told him to not expose
me, he could not do anything except to teach
his son a lesson.
He kicked Blake in the back of the knees,
forcing him to kneel. “This is Mrs. Sterling, you
imbecile, you could get the rest of us killed.
Harrington spoke to me, his voice a mix of
caution and desperation. “Miss Sterling, I know
my son has offended you. Death would be to
easy of a punishment for his ignorance. Please,
I beg you, have mercy. Let me make this right.”
Seeing his father groveling, Blake finally
realized that I was someone important.
“Dad, who is she? We’re the Harringtons! Is
there someone in Chicago we can’t mess
with?”
