Chapter 4
Before I could say a word, a cup of milk tea splashed across my face.
“Well, aren’t you shameless,” someone sneered. “A homewrecker crashing the wedding? Trying to ruin their big day?”
Then they came at me–fists and feet flying.
I fought back with everything I had, but there were too many of them. Dozens of people swarmed me, emboldened by their numbers. It didn’t take long before they had me on the floor.
And then it got worse.
Some beat me. Others grabbed at my clothes. Someone pulled out a phone and started livestreaming.
“Let the whole internet see what a mistress looks like!”
I tried to shield my face, but they yanked my arms down.
They held my wrists and ankles, forcing me still. Someone hung a pair of heels around my neck like a sick joke.
They spit on me.
Called me trash.
“Slut”
“Whore
“Homewrecker.”
I cried. I screamed. But it didn’t stop them.
They used me like a punching bag, like entertainment, Like I wasn’t even a person.
Then–finally–someone yelled from the front door, “The groom’s here!”
The assault stopped. The crowd scattered like a flipped switch, rushing toward the entrance to greet the arriving couple.
I dragged myself off the ground, covered in bruises, my body trembling,
And there he was.
Orion Sterling, in a sleek black tuxedo. Beside him, Seraphina Lane, dressed in white lace, her makeup immaculate.
Orion’s face froze the moment he saw me–bloody, humiliated, shaking.
He hurried toward me and leaned in, whispering, “I thought you left. The wedding… it’s not real. Just a performance for the child.”
I stared at him, voice low and cold. “So the bruises on my face? The broken antiques? Those were props?”
He frowned, clearly irritated with my response.
Behind him, his so–called “friends” gathered again.
“She’s unbelievable, crashing your wedding like this,” someone said. “You should slap her, Orion. Let Seraphina get her justice.”
Orion stood still.
Seraphina looked at him expectantly.
Orion finally turned to me and said, “You should go.”
I looked him dead in the eyes. “Why should I go? Under what identity–what role–do I walk away? As the mistress? Tell me, Orion. Am [the mistress?”

Someone nearby spat at me. “He’s got a wife and kid now. If you’re not the mistress, what are you?”
I didn’t take my eyes off him. “Am I the mistress?”
He hesitated, then said quietly, “No.”
But the crowd wouldn’t accept that
Voices erupted, “How could she not be?! She ruined everything!”
Orion raised his voice, addressing them all. “You’re all mistaken. We were just friends. I barely even knew her.”
Lactually laughed.
“You barely knew me?” My voice cracked with rage. “Then why are you having your wedding in my house?!”
Someone kicked me. “What do you mean your house? This is Orion and Seraphina’s wedding home!”
“Delusional bitch. Just mad she lost her sugar daddy.”
“Someone like her deserves to be hauled through town for public shaming!”
I pulled out my phone and dialed the police
But Orion slapped the phone from my hand and ended the call.
wou want.”
“Delphine,” he hissed, “just let today pass. After this, do whatever you
Before I could respond, a familiar voice cut through the noise.
“Delphine, sweetheart,” she said, “listen to Auntie. Making a scene today won’t do you any good.”
Iturned–stunned.
It was Orion’s mother.
The same woman who used to hold my hand and call me her daughter. The one who once warned Orion never to hurt me.
She pulled me aside and locked us in the bathroom.
“Don’t worry,” she said softly. “Auntie will make this right.”
“He had the kid before he met you. So technically, it wasn’t cheating.
“Let them marry. Later, they’ll divorce. That way, he’ll just be a divorce with a child. Sounds much better than having a bastard kid, right?”
I let out a sharp laugh “Who said I have to marry him?”
“I don’t care who he marries or how many kids he has. What I do care about is this: the house is mine, and I want him out. And I expect to be compensated for everything that happened today.”
She looked stunned.
“You used to love him,” she said weakly. “You w
would’ve done anything for him. You once knelt outside our house for three hours after a fight.”
“All he’s doing now is giving Seraphina a name. Why are you being so petty?” Her words hit harder than any punch.
Yes, I used to love him. Foolishly. Pathetically.
I was the one with money, with a future. And yet I let Orion control every aspect of my life.
He knew my weakness. He’d constantly threaten to leave, and I’d always beg him to stay..
No wonder he thought he could bring another woman into my home and marry her.
