“He’s thinking of stealing other people’s work.”
“His daughter was accusing someone, and today the dad is accusing someone.”
I saw shock on Professor Caldwell’s face.
Now his words were the butt of jokes.
“You’re lying! Who did I accuse?”
Faced with the laughter, Tiffany said, “That paper was a trap by Chad and Abby.”
From the back, a voice shouted, “You’re lying!”
Chad stood up. “You asked me to steal Abby’s research. Why are you turning against me now?”
Chad had been trying to save his relationship with Tiffany. She had mocked him and made him the laughingstock of the Academy.

He walked to Tiffany. “You had me do bad
things. You disowned me. Why didn’t you ask
for me to be given another chance?”
“You’re the same. You throw away what you don’t need.”
“Did you think I was going to throw you away
when I was sleeping with you?”
Tiffany slapped Chad.
Professor Caldwell mocked. “I would never let
you touch my daughter!”
“You’re garbage!”
Chad pulled out a switchblade and stabbed
Professor Caldwell in the chest.
“Academic family? I’ll academic your mom!”
“You look down on me. I’ll kill you!”

“You look down on me. I’ll kill you!”
Professor Caldwell’s eyes widened in terror.
The conference room descended into chaos.
Tiffany was killed.
Chad killed Tiffany in a rage.
Professor Caldwell and Tiffany were taken to the morgue.
Chad didn’t resist when the police arrived.
After Professor Caldwell died, former students exposed his exploitation, excessive workload, theft of research, and embezzlement of stipends.
The academic family became a dirty word.

Chad was sentenced to death.
He asked to see me.
“Tiffany did love you. She was just insecure.”
“I never explained our relationship. I told her you were helping me fight her. She believed it.”
“You were going to destroy me. This is what you deserve.”
“Goodbye, darling. Don’t be so stupid in the next life.”
I smiled at him. “You deserved it!”
“I’m busy with a presentation next month.”
“Goodbye!”
