Chapter 24

A Warrior Wolf’s Possessiveness

I was trying on Blood Bond gowns when my communicator buzzed.

Too busy adjusting the train of the gown, I couldn’t look.”Zoe, check my messages,” I said, my head down. Zoe, impeccably dressed in a crisp white tunic, stood beside me.”Sure.”

He took my communicator, unlocked it using my birthdate, and read my aunt’s message.

“Lanie, Benjamin and Adam want to attend your Blood Bond. What do you think… should they come?” His gaze darkened, a hint of possessiveness in his voice.

“Lanie, what do you think? Should they come to our Blood Bond?”

His Warrior Wolf’s territorial instincts were flaring.

He stepped closer, dismissing the stylist, and adjusted the sleeves of my gown. His touch, feather-light on my wrist, sent a shiver down my spine.

“Zoe… maybe… maybe not,” I stammered, my face flushing crimson under his intense gaze. My wolf flinched instinctively beneath the force of his Alpha pheromones.

He chuckled, his arms wrapping around my waist, his chest against mine. Lanie, trust me.”

His voice was low and soothing, masking the underlying possessiveness. “Trust your mate’s abilities. Even if they come, they won’t cause any trouble.”

My heart pounded. Inhaling his scent, a faint musk that sent a pleasant tickle to my chin, I stared blankly at my reflection, unaware of when my cheeks had flushed so deeply. I hadn’t even heard what he’d said, simply nodding.

“Uh-huh… okay…” I felt like a burning ember, my heart racing wildly.

Sensing my discomfort, his smile widened.

“Lanie, look, you’re beautiful in the mirror. Stunning. He teased gently. My blush deepened.

I realized this reaction was unlike anything I’d felt around Benjamin and Adam.

My eyes darted everywhere but towards him. I didn’t even notice when he handed me the communicator back.

He guided my finger to tap “yes.”

I felt the warmth of his hand linger on mine.

Only after regaining my composure did I realize his earlier possessiveness. An unexpected thought struck me.

Zoe likes me? I covered my flushed cheeks, disbelieving it. We’d only been bonded for a few days; feelings shouldn’t develop this quickly.

But we were bonded.

Jealousy was to be expected.

To clear my head, I finished trying on gowns, noting alterations needed, and fully immersed myself in the task. Zoe, watching me intently, remained silent, only adjusting the lighting to the perfect brightness before quietly leaving. His wolf’s protective instincts were satisfied for the moment; his mate was safe, and he had asserted his dominance.
