Chapter 15
Elie stood in front of the wide floor–to–ceiling window, holding a steaming cup of cappuccino in his hand, looking up at the blue sky reflected on the glass curtain wall.
This was her second month at the new company.
Colleagues share snacks in the pantry, gossip in groups during lunch break, no one knows about her past struggles, and no one would suddenly splash coffee on her face.
“Elie, can this data teach me how to verify it? The designer sitting next to me scratched his head awkwardly and handed me a document.”
“No problem, she said, finishing the last sip of coffee and taking the files with a smile, patiently guiding through the process of handling the data. step by step.”
She did everything very seriously and never complained, she was very gentle to everyone.
Everyone liked Elie very much.
The director of the Marketing Department, Gabriela, shared the extra coffee with her, Brayden from the R&D Team would teach her how to debug code, even the most serious technical director would speak to her in a gentle tone.
Elie rubbed his sore neck and looked at the dense data charts and tables on the screen, mustering up the energy to continue editing.
This is the most important project of the company this year. This morning,

the Chief Technology Officer suddenly called her into the office and said, “You will be in charge of this new project from now on.”
“Me? She was so shocked that she almost spilled her coffee.”
The director pushed his glasses up and said, “Dr. Norman mentioned that you have worked on similar cases before. I have reviewed your proposal-“.
He pointed to the proposal she stayed up late writing last week, “Let’s move forward with this approach.”
Now she finally understood why Javon had insisted on her applying for this position.
In the reflection of the glass, she saw her eyes shining remarkably, with a
captivating light flickering inside.
“Ms. Roberts, your takeout has arrived, the security guard peeked in, holding a bag with “Fork & Dash” printed on it.”
The truffle mac smash bowl and crispy firecracker chicken wrap were
both her favorite flavors.
The sticky note was written with a flourish: “Just finished in the CT room, remember to eat while it’s hot.”
The signature also included a crooked and twisted heart.
Elie stared at the note for a long time and couldn’t help but laugh.
A warm feeling surged in her heart, her hungry stomach also got food, and her body and mind both became cheerful.
She carefully put the USB flash drive into her bag. When she pushed open the company’s door, Javon was leaning against the gingko tree, reading medical records

The street lamp tinted his white coat into a warm yellow color. Hearing footsteps, he looked up and smiled, “It seems like I timed my arrival just right.”
“Aren’t you working the early shift tomorrow? she asked, running over and sneezing as the night wind blew.”
Javon immediately took off his coat and wrapped it tightly around her: “The patient canceled the surgery at the last minute.”
He took her laptop bag and couldn’t help but frown, “Why is it heavier than yesterday?”
“She added a mechanical hard drive, she counted on her fingers, “to store all kinds of data, recently also involving CAD, and new modules…”
The words were not finished when Javon had already crouched down: “Come up.”
“Huh?”
“Heels rubbed my heels raw and I still wore high heels. He turned and glared at her, “Are you trying to make me, an orthopedic doctor, unemployed?”
Elie blushed and buried her face in his back.
