Chapter 14
When Martin woke up, he was in the hospital.
It was already the next morning.
Isabel was filled with surprise and excitement, “Martin, you woke up, how do you feel?”
Seeing that he ignored people, I spoke again, “The doctor said that only low blood sugar can cause fainting, so have something.”
Martin looked out of the window, his lips pale. He whispered, “Isabel, don’t come looking for me anymore.”
Isabel’s face turned pale, and she forced a bitter smile, saying, “Alright, once you eat me, I won’t come back anymore.”
Martin finished his porridge and lay back down, clearly indicating that he wanted the person to leave.
The room was filled with loneliness.
Isabel gazed deeply at Martin, as if wanting to etch his image in her mind, and then smiled and said, “I’m leaving, Martin.”
Walking to the door, she turned back reluctantly to gaze at Martin.
The sunlight fell on his face, revealing handsome features, she silently murmured in her heart.
Martin, never to be seen again.
The following days.
Martin, as usual, went to work and came back home, just like before.
His expression just became colder, he used to smile occasionally in the past, but now he didn’t smile anymore.
Until that day, Mr. Wilson received a call from the lawyer, “Mr. Wilson, the case of Evelyn’s mother, the trial is tomorrow.”
Martin hung up the phone, and he instinctively touched the urn. His eyes gradually turned red, but he couldn’t shed any tears no matter how hard he tried.
Even if the murderer was brought to justice, Evelyn would not come back.
The next day, the court held a hearing.
Evelyn’s mother sat in the defendant’s seat, still arguing for herself, “Your Honor, I truly didn’t know that she would die from just a fall. I thought at most she would have a miscarriage. I really didn’t mean it.”
Martin’s eyes narrowed, and he couldn’t help but clench his teeth.
Up until now, there has been no remorse, and still, there is a tendency to argue.
The lawyers on both sides argued incessantly, and ultimately the court pronounced its judgment.
“The case concluded that the defendant’s actions constituted the crime of involuntary manslaughter, and sentenced him to seven years of imprisonment with immediate execution.”
“You can appeal the verdict immediately if you are dissatisfied with it.”
Everything was resolved, and it was time to make a decision.
Martin held the urn in his hands and slowly made his way to the seaside.
The wind was warm, just like Evelyn.
He couldn’t help but reminisce about the time when he was with Evelyn.
Back then, the transition from being colleagues to being spouses occurred.
The two of them also had a lot of jokes.

Just a moment ago, they were embracing intimately, but as soon as work came, Evelyn immediately distanced herself and started reporting the work seriously.
Only Martin was left looking at his empty hands, feeling both amused and frustrated.
He thought marrying her was because of responsibility.
Later, it was understood that it was because of love.
He opened the urn, paused for a moment, and then slowly scattered the ashes into the sea.
The sea breeze tousled his hair and also blew away Evelyn’s last presence.
My heart also felt empty. Evelyn, if there is a next life, I will definitely treat you well.
When the box was empty, Martin stood for a long time, not knowing what to write. He only left when the wind started to blow.
The sky gradually darkened, and it looked like it was going to rain.
He walked aimlessly, without any worries.
George called and said, “Mr. Wilson…”
He nodded and, with a turn of his gaze, caught sight of a familiar figure.
Martin’s heart skipped a beat, and he quickly chased after.
But the heavens seemed to be playing tricks, as the crowd gradually surged forward.
He went against the crowd, watching people walk to the zebra crossing.
At that moment, an out–of–control car rushed towards that figure.
Martin’s pupils contracted, and he burst with astonishing strength, pushing the man away.
With a loud “bang,” it echoed through the sky.
His body fell to the ground, uncontrollably spitting out frothy blood from his mouth, while his eyes gradually grew dim.
The figure approached him, and he finally saw her face.
“Evelyn… is that you?”
