Then, the bodyguards walked straight into the apartment. Dale tried to stop them, but they pinned her down with ease.
Next, Marshall handed another document to Colin. “This is the divorce agreement. Miss Roxanne has already signed it.“}
He pulled out another set of papers and added, “And this is a formal lawsuit against your family for illegally occupying private property and intentionally harming a pregnant woman.”
Colin stared at the documents, his face drained of all color. “Roxanne… she’s really from the Harris Corporation?”
The bodyguard snapped coldly, “Enough with the questions. Pack your stuff and get out. I don’t want to see a trace of you here in five minutes.”
Upon hearing that, panic finally set in.§
Dale dropped to her knees, clinging to Marshall’s leg, sobbing. “We didn’t know! If we had known she was from the Harrises, we’d never have touched her, I swear! My job is gone! My future’s ruined! Please… just give us one more chance!“}
However, Marshall just kicked her off in disgust. “A chance? Where was that sympathy when you were pushing a pregnant woman into a wall? Too late to feel bad now.”
Even their mother panicked. She stammered, “We–we’re willing to apologize… and pay for the damages…”
“Apologize?” Marshall let out a cold laugh. “You think you’re even worth that?”
“Miss Roxanne has already made her decision. Your entire family will be blacklisted from every company affiliated with the Harris Corporation. You won’t just struggle to find work. You’ll even have a hard time renting an apartment.”}
And just like that, the three of them, along with their belongings, were dragged out of the apartment and tossed into the hallway.”
Dale collapsed on the ground, wailing. Their mother looked like a ghost, completely lifeless. And Colin stood frozen, like a man whose soul had left his body.”
Roxanne’s POV
From inside the car, I watched them through the window with a cold, blank stare.}
My brother reached over and gently held my hand. “Does it still hurt?“}
I shook my head, but deep inside, something still ached.
It wasn’t physical pain. It was heartbreak.
I had once loved Colin so deeply. I truly believed he would protect me. But in the end, he was the one who pushed me into the darkness.§
“Let’s go.”
As the car pulled away, I saw Colin run after us, banging on the window like a madman.}
“Roxanne! Please! Just listen to me!“}
He was crying like a child.
But I had no more tears left for him.
A week later, I thought it was
all behind me.
I was in the middle of a meeting when my assistant rushed in, flustered. “Miss Harris! There’s someone causing a scene downstairs. She says she’s a family member of yours.“}
I walked over to the office window and looked down at the company lobby.
There she was—Dale.
She was holding a cardboard sign that read, [Heartless CEO drove a poor student to ruin!]
She wore tattered clothes, her hair a tangled mess, looking every bit like a pitiful stray. A crowd of employees had gathered, whispering among themselves.
“What’s going on?”
“I heard that’s Miss Harris’s sister–in–law. She got kicked out of the house.”
“She looks so miserable… and she just graduated too…”
I let out a cold laugh, picked up my phone, and started recording.”
When I went downstairs, Dale spotted me and instantly jumped into her act.
“Sis! You’re finally here!” She dropped to her knees in front of me. “I’m begging you. Please just give me a way to survive!”
Some of the employees started looking at me with pity.
Miss Harris… she really does look pitiful…”
“Maybe just let it go? After all, she was your family…”
I raised my phone and pointed it right at her. “Everyone, take a good look. This is the textbook definition of professional victimhood.” Dale’s expression changed in an instant. “What are you doing?!”
“Recording your performance, of course.” My voice was calm, but every word was ice–cold.
