“Jason, you tell me right now, what the hell happened?” Sofia’s fists were clenched, her voice trembling.
I wanted to blurt it all out, to tell her everything, but I held it back. I was so, so scared that if I told her, she would come back to me out of pity.
And the man I was now… I didn’t deserve her.
I shook my head, my voice cold. “Sofia, I dumped you a long time ago. We have nothing to do with each other, Why do you still care? Don’t you know I only ever saw you as a dog?”
She stared at me, her expression a maelstrom of emotions. But in the end, she didn’t get angry. Instead, her voice softened. “Jason, I’m begging you. Tell me.”
Her eyes were like shimmering pools of water, making me want to confess everything. I couldn’t control the feeling anymore.
But just as I was about to speak, someone else walked in.
The newcomer was beautiful, tall, and exuded an air of power.
Roxanne. One of my former pursuers, and the one who had insulted Sofia the most.
“Well, well,” she sneered. “Look what we have here. A reunion of old lovers?”
Sofia’s gaze hardened. “Roxanne, you’d be wise not to provoke me.”
“Don’t be silly, Ms. Suarez,” Roxanne said with a dismissive laugh. “You’re the new queen of the gaming industry. I wouldn’t dare.” Her eyes, howe- ver, were fixed on me. “Same price as last time. Get your things. You’re coming with me.”
