I knew who was behind it.
But I didn’t flinch.
Because the day before we left, I woke up and
realized I looked like I used to.
My dad called, freaking out. He said the family business had turned around, an old friend had
stepped in.

It meant Lacey’s system was about to fail.
I had a feeling.
When Chase and I met again, he would
remember everything.

I made a Twitter account and commented under
the post:
[I’m the Scarlett in the story. I dare you to
confront me in person.]
[I’m on my way back to school. Everyone’s
welcome.]

When I got back to school, there were banners.
everywhere:
[Scarlett Get Out of Our School! We Support
Scarlett’s Leaving!]

When I got to class, the hallway was packed.
People from other schools came to see me. They looked at me with disgust.
“I’m curious what this ugly face looks like, look at that body…I guess that’s how she does it…”
“Shut your mouth!”
Samson was about to punch him, but I stopped him.
In the crowd, I saw a familiar face.
Lacey, the same she looked like when I first met her.
She looked like she’d gone broke. She used to wear all kinds of flashy brands, so everyone would know she had money.
Now, she was wearing an old coat, and her
diamond hair clips were gone.
She was staring at me with hateful eyes.
“You must be Samson. What a handsome face
but you have a bad taste.”
Someone shouted, “What a waste, such
handsome guy.”
Everyone laughed. Someone rushed forward
and ripped off my hat and mask.
The crowd went silent.
Someone spit out their water. “OMG! Am I
dreaming?!”
