Chapter 5
Answering the phone, a commanding voice from Jordan’s friend came through the other end of the line.
“Melanie, Jordan got drunk, quickly bring some hangover medicine, we are in private room number 5 at Charming Bar.”
Before she could even react, the phone hung up, as if it was certain that she would come.
Melanie didn’t want to go originally, but she thought about the fact that she still had some things stored in the apartment’s warehouse, and the key to the warehouse was still with Jordan. She had to take the key in order to completely clean out the things.
After pondering for a moment, I finally dragged my exhausted body out of the door.
As Melanie opened the compartment, she heard Jordan’s friends laughing mockingly.
“She really came, see, I told you she would come! After all, Jordan is here, how could she bear not coming?”
Sitting in the main seat, Jordan lazily took a sip of his drink and pointed at the person on the couch, laughing, “I won this game, and remember to pay up for tonight’s drink. It’s a game that you were guaranteed to lose, yet you still wanted to bet against me. There’s just no way.”
Upon hearing Jordan’s words, Melanie understood the whole story.
Originally, Jordan was not drunk. The reason she was asked to bring hangover medicine was simply because a few people were using her as a bet, betting
on whether she would come or not.
Jordan had played such gambling games with his friends several times before.
I remember last time, it was also a bet whether she would come or not, but the excuse Jordan’s friend used last time was that Jordan was injured in a car
accident.
At that time, Melanie ran over eagerly, only to find Jordan standing there completely unharmed.
His group of friends watched as her face trembled with anger and burst into laughter.
Since then, all of Jordan’s friends would always use her to organize gambling games.
She had been fooled several times before, so they probably didn’t expect that she would come again, even though she had been fooled so many times.
So, the person who lost the bet lay on the sofa in the private room, wailing and accusing Melanie, “Why are you so despicable? You really are available at the drop of a hat, even at midnight. Are you a dog, so obedient? You do whatever you’re told, without any self–respect!”
“Hey, it’s too much to say something like that! How can you speak about a girl like that? You all know how much Melanie likes Jordan, she’s been following him for over ten years. Calling her a dog is just plain rude,” another man stood up and said, then laughed maliciously.
A few people laughed together, their eyes filled with disdain and mockery as they looked at her.
Jordan watched the farce quietly and did not intervene.
And Jordan, who was expecting Melanie to be trembling with anger as usual, ready with comforting words, was surprised to see Melanie simply take a deep breath and look at Jordan sitting quietly there, saying, “I can’t find the keys to the warehouse. If they’re with you, please give them to me.”
Jordan frowned at the words and he did not go to fetch the keys from the warehouse.
But instead of staying silent, he found something to say and approached Melanie, “Are you angry? Your face looks so cold.”
Jordan paused for a moment and then said, “Ethan Stobart was just joking with you, don’t take it to heart, they didn’t mean any harm. At most, I can have them apologize to you, it’s not a big deal.”
Melanie sighed and didn’t have much of a reaction.
Jordan paused for a moment.
Rarely, Jordan waved at Ethan.
“Did you see? Melanie was angry, so you better come over and apologize.”
Ethan came over with a smile and said, “Melanie, just forgive us, okay? Sorry, okay?”
Although apologizing, there was no sincerity, only perfunctory.
There was no change in Melanie’s facial expression, she just looked at Jordan with a faint gaze and asked, “The key?”
Jordan wondered why Melanie was so calm tonight, so calm that he felt like she had become a different person.
But he thought and thought, Melanie liked him so much, no matter how much he could change.
Jordan reached into his pocket and handed Melanie the keys to the warehouse, realizing that he had been overthinking.

Melanie took it and walked away.
The moment she left the compartment, she heard her friend behind her say to Jordan, “Jordan, why did you make us apologize to Melanie?”
“You don’t understand this, do you? Melanie has been obedient to Jordan for so long. If Jordan keeps giving her a hard time, it would undermine her confidence. It’s like giving a slap followed by a sweet date, only then can Melanie be completely devoted to Jordan and obedient for a longer time. Don’t you think so, Jordan?”
“Was…”
