Chapter 7
Without waiting for Aydan to speak, Layla, with Ahmed in tow, arrived at my master bedroom as if presenting a treasure. Through the surveillance in the master bedroom, I clearly saw her open the safe and hand over all the cash and my jewelry to Ahmed.
She looked at Ahmed with hope on her face.
“Dad, with these things, you will never have to suffer again in the future. We can finally be reunited as a family!”
Ahmed, who was money–minded, burst into laughter and patted Layla’s shoulder, saying, “Well done! You truly are my good daughter!”
He said, greedily looking at my villa, “This house looks pretty good!”
As the words fell, Ahmed went downstairs and pointed at Aydan, ordering his two sons, Jayvon Huynh and Rory Huynh, “Throw this man out of our
house.”
Aydan couldn’t believe it: “Ahmed, you trespassed into someone’s house, which was illegal!”
Ahmed snorted coldly, “If you dared to call the police, I would accuse you of stealing my daughter and see who ends up worse!”
Aydan struggled in vain, not even wearing a coat, and was thrown into the icy and snowy wilderness by Jayvon and Rory. He shivered from the cold and desperately pounded on the reinforced doors and windows.
Layla, upon seeing the situation, rarely showed a sense of fear.
She pulled Ahmed’s sleeve and said, “It’s so cold outside, what if Dad… what if Aydan freezes to death?”
Ahmed chuckled, “Freezing to death, wouldn’t that be even better? No one would be competing with us for the villa anymore. It’s such a cold day, if he doesn’t hurry up and find a warm place to go, but instead insists on staying here, can I be blamed if he freezes to death? He can only blame himself for being foolish!”
“What? He supported you for so many years, and you can’t bear to let him die?”
As soon as Layla heard it, she immediately waved her hand to disassociate herself, saying, “He is not my biological father, so his life and death have nothing to do with me.”
Aydan knocked on the door, and the tears and mucus that flowed out instantly froze.
The sound of his knocking on the door grew quieter and quieter, and I knew deep down that he couldn’t hold on much longer.
He could only risk being discovered as he made his way up from the basement through the back door to fetch him.
After instructing my daughter to remain silent, I wrapped myself in the thickest long down coat and opened the door, walking into the wind and snow.
I walked for a long, long time on the short twenty–meter distance.
I finally saw that Aydan’s body was already half buried in the snow outside the gate, I took out the stones I had prepared in advance and hid in the corner of the wall, smashing him one by one.
Aydan finally reacted and turned his head back with difficulty. In the moment our eyes met, waved at him vigorously.
He approached me quietly and scolded, “How did you…how did you come up here?!”
I sighed and looked at his frostbitten face, saying, “Stop talking and come with me quickly.”
I took Aydan back to the basement and locked the door again.
This door has also been reinforced and cannot be opened from the outside, and I calculated the time, in a little while, this door will also be blocked by heavy snow, so it is absolutely safe.
The temperature in this rooin was not cold, so I brought a thick blanket and wrapped it around him. I handed him a cup of hot water.
Aydan looked at me gratefully, tears welling up in his eyes. “Caitlin, you’re right. Layla is really not a good person. It’s all my fault for not seeing through her. Now they have taken over the house and even confiscated my phone… my phone! Oh, Caitlin, you need to call the police right away!”
“It’s too late.” I said softly, holding Aleah in my arms. “The traffic has already been paralyzed due to the blizzard, and now we can only rely on -qurselves.”
“What does it mean?”
I opened the door to the small room, showing Aydan the food and daily necessities I had stocked in the basement. “This heavy snow, it won’t stop for at least ten days. We need to hide here, well before the people upstairs perish.” Aydan looked at me with shocked eyes.
