I pulled him into a side hug. “So you’re benched. Who cares? We don’t need them.”
He sighed. “Aria, I know my singing and dancing weren’t the best, but I’ve been practicing so hard these last two years. I debuted at
eighteen, and I’m twenty now. Dad said I have to go back and learn to manage the family business when I turn twenty–five… I love
being on stage. I don’t want to leave with regrets.”
Looking into his bright, determined eyes, I was suddenly reminded of myself at six years old, standing in an audience, pointing at
the dancers on stage and telling my mother, “I’m going to be the greatest dancer in the world.”
