Chapter 16
She was dragged into the hotel room and tied to the bed. Then several burly men came in–just as Evelynne had claimed Liora wanted to have her raped.
“No! Stay away! Get away from me!”
“Sorry, Carmen, I was wrong! I messed up!”
Evelynne screamed, crying and pleading, trying to fend them off. But she was too weak and bound tight; she was quickly overpowered, and her only
covering garment was torn away.
Her screams filled the room as she lost all dignity. The foul stench of those men surrounded her endlessly, while she sobbed and whimpered in despair.
The torment lasted for days before the satisfied men finally left the room.
Evelynne’s eyes glazed over, her expression vacant and hopeless, like a filthy rag tossed on the floor without an ounce of pride.
In less than a month, she had lost a significant amount of weight, her former glow completely gone.
Even when Carmen passed by, she didn’t even notice.
Carmen looked down on her for a long time. When she realized someone’s gaze lingered on her, Evelynne’s dull mind slowly caught up and her eyes
focused on the direction.
It was Carmen.
In an instant, she seemingly clung to hope, scrambling up to hug his leg.
“Carmen! I know I was wrong. I really do. Please forgive me. I’ll change. I swear I won’t do those things again!”
“It was always my fault before. Just forgive me, and I can do anything you want. Carmen, save me. Please don’t keep doing this. I’m so scared. I’m really
scared…”
She sobbed with tears, the fear in her eyes genuine.
Yet she still had a chance at forgiveness. Liora had lost everything.
Thinking of that, Carmen’s expression remained unmoved. He just stared at Evelynne’s pitiful state.
“Do one last thing for Liora, and you two are even. Then I’ll forgive you.”
He offered her an irresistible bargain. To escape this hellish punishment, she was willing to do anything.
She nodded frantically.
“I’ll do anything, Carmen. Carmen… please forgive me. I’ve always loved you.”
Evelynne looked at him with longing. Carmen sneered but said nothing about what the final task was, then left the room.
Soon enough, Evelynne found out.
That task was death.
She was dragged to Liora’s grave. While being forced down to kowtow, sharp knives stabbed into her body again and again.
She tried to break free, but Carmen held her tightly. Blood quickly stained the graveyard red. She wept in despair, but no one answered her silent pleas.
Only after thirty–three stabs did it stop.
Covered in blood, Evelynne’s expression twisted into pure hatred.
She had endured so much, hoping to survive but why did she still have to die by Carmen’s hand?
“Carmen! Why? Why are you doing this to me!” she cried, wild with rage and full of hatred.
Carmen’s face was expressionless as he looked at her like a corpse.
“Because you killed Liora. You deserve this.”
Evelynne suddenly burst into laughter. Reckless now, she clung to her last shred of will, pointed at Carmen, and glared fiercely.
“You said you don’t love Liora! But you clearly do! That’s why you’re so angry! That’s why you’re taking it out on me! But it’s too late now! Do you think Liora died because of me? She died because you never trusted her. If you’d cared just a little more, would she have been so desperate to die?”

“Carmen, you’re the real culprit! You love Liora–love her to madness! You’re a lunatic now!”
“But no matter what you do, Liora will never come back. You’ll live the rest of your life like this!”
Her cries grew louder and louder, then gradually faded until she finally lay on the ground, barely breathing.
Tears streamed from the corners of her eyes. Evelynne closed her eyes, and her heart stopped.
Throughout it all, Carmen only looked on coldly.
He didn’t love Liora.
