Chapter 6
On my first day at university, Patrick didn’t show up to send me off.
Still, I didn’t mind. I felt calm when I spotted Jacob happily helping me with my luggage.
“Did you let your parents know that you’re taking me to campus?” I asked.
Jacob shrugged. “I’m old enough to decide things for myself.”
He looked so confident and grown–up that I started to chuckle. Even though he’s only three months older than me, he always seems way more mature.
You could tell Jacob had a bold nature just by looking at his bright.
ab
golden hair and his flashy motorcycle.
I’ve always admired him, not just because he’s brave enough to speak his. mind, but because he stands up to his parents and lives life his own way.”
I guess the look on my face gave it away.
Jacob turned and caught me staring, then proudly flexed his arm, showing off his strong muscles. “Don’t be jealous. I’ve got plenty of strength,” he joked
I burst out laughing, and he had me chuckling more than once along the
way.
By that point, I had already stopped thinking about Patrick.
The University of Central Florida was lovely, with nice dorms and
friendly roommates.
I started to feel excited about the new chapter ahead.
Funny enough, Jacob looked even more thrilled than I was. He’s the kind
H
of person who stands out in a crowd, always drawing attention.
When I went up to my room, a group of girls had already gathered around him downstairs, cheeks blushing as they asked for his WhatsApp.
I furrowed my brows subconsciously, feeling a bit annoyed.
Right after, I was surprised at how I reacted.
Maybe I was just scared that he’d meet new people and forget about me.
I raised my hand and called out, “Jacob!”
He said something quietly to the girls, and they glanced at me before walking away, clearly a little disappointed.
“Georgia!”
He came running toward me with a bright smile, grabbed my hand, and pulled me off campus without saying much.
As we ran, I looked at his sharp features and carefree smile, and my heart started to race, My ears even felt warm for no reason.
Once we passed through the campus gates, he let go of my hand, and I suddenly felt a bit empty inside.
“I told them you’re my girlfriend. You don’t mind, do you, Georgia?” he asked.
Just then, my phone buzzed. It was a message from Patrick.
Chapter
“Did you make it to school?
“Don’t forget what I told you.”
The two texts somehow triggered a rebellious feeling inside me.
Looking at Jacob, who was acting calm but clearly looked nervous, I realized that maybe dating in college wouldn’t be such a bad idea.
My mouth moved quicker than my thoughts, and I said it before I could stop myself.
“Why wait for them to dig for proof? Let’s just make it official ourselves.”
Right after I spoke, I regretted it and felt frustrated.
If he didn’t feel the same, even being friends would be hard.
Just as that moment of regret passed, Jacob pulled me into a strong hug.
I noticed his hands were slightly shaking, holding me tighter and tighter, like he was scared I’d slip away.
His golden hair brushed against my skin, and when he looked up, there was pure affection in his eyes.
The cool wind brushed past my ear, and I heard him softly speak.
“Okay, my girlfriend.”
The way he looked at me was filled with such deep affection that I felt. ashamed of myself.
My weak feelings didn’t seem good enough for someone like him.
Still, it’s hard not to fall in love with Jacob.
He’s like a warm beam of sunshine, always chasing away the darkness in my heart.
Because he’s here, all the messy, ugly parts inside me have slowly
changed into something better.
