e.]]
Suddenly remembering something, he quickly sent two bodyguards to ask my friends about my whereabouts.]
He waited at home until midnight, but received no news from his bodyguards.]
He began to fear the worst.]

Seeing the photos of him and Ivy displayed in the living room, he angrily smashed the frame and tore the pictures to shreds.]
He had taken those photos to commemorate Ivy’s supposed completion of her first project.
We had even argued about it, resulting in a month–long cold war that resolved nothing, with the frame still displayed prominently in the living room.
What he didn’t know was that Ivy’s “first project” was actually stolen from my work.[]
Roman wanted to replace them with photos of us, but despite turning the house upside down, he couldn’t find a single one.
After searching the last drawer, he crouched on the floor, covering his face as he wept: “How could there not be even one photo of
us…
He looked at the scattered photos on the floor–all of him and Ivy, none with me–as tears of regret streamed from his reddened eyes.
Just then, the housekeeper came to ask, “Sir, would you like something to eat? You haven’t eaten all day.“]
Roman instinctively replied in a hoarse voice, “I want some of Serena’s soup. Could you ask her to come back?”
The housekeeper shook his head, looking at the mess around them, and said resignedly, “Sir, Miss Chase won’t be coming back.“]
Hearing this, Roman finally broke down, sobbing uncontrollably.
Outside, torrential rain poured as thunder rolled.[]
Suddenly, Ivy burst in, her face ashen as she knelt before Roman.[]
“Roman, please, save me!“]
“I’m so young–how can you let me spend 20 years in prison?“]
Seeing that Roman remained unmoved, her expression changed dramatically: “Roman Thornfield, didn’t you say I was the one you loved? How can you let me take all the blame alone?“]
At her words, something shifted in Roman’s vacant gaze. Ivy brightened, saying, “Roman, I know you couldn’t speak freely at the company, but now it’s just us. We’re still each other’s strongest support, right?“]}]

Seeing him remain silent, Ivy thought she had a chance and continued desperately: “Roman, you don’t understand–I did everything for you…”
“When you were fighting to become the largest shareholder, I was worried Serena wouldn’t help you. But I didn’t have money to support you, so I advised you to get her shares for me. But Roman, believe me, I had no selfish intentions. I was only trying to help you!”
Roman calmly watched as she continued to defend herself, then slapped her hard across the face.]]
SLAP!
The sharp sound echoed through the living room. Ivy held her cheek in disbelief, staring wide–eyed at Roman.]]
“Ivy, even now, you’re still making excuses. Was this really all for me?” Roman asked coldly.
Last night, he had discovered Ivy’s offshore account containing evidence of her embezzlement over the years.[]
Ivy stubbornly insisted, “Roman, you’re all I care about. Why else would I want to marry you?“[]
Thinking of the humiliation he suffered on their wedding day, Roman even wanted to tear Ivy apart. He immediately cut her off: “Enough! If it weren’t for you, Serena would never have left me at the altar. All of this is because of you! And you still have the nerve to say it was for me?“]
With a wave of his hand, his bodyguards rushed over, grabbed Ivy, and beat her severely.
After a while, he coldly looked at the barely conscious Ivy: “Crawl out of here, and I’ll agree to save you…“]]
Ivy couldn’t believe her ears. These were the exact words she had once said to Serena.
When she had stolen my project and I confronted her about it, she told me to kneel like a dog and beg if I wanted it back.[
Roman had been standing outside the door and heard everything, yet he never intervened.
Ivy noved her stiff limbs, crawling inch by inch toward the exit.]
just as she had finally managed to crawl outside the main gate, enduring the strange looks and comments from passersby, Roman waved his hand and the bodyguards immediately closed the wide–open doors.
Ivy cried out in despair: “Roman Thornfield! YOU LIED TO ME!!!”
The crowd of onlookers whispered among themselves, and some uploaded videos online.[]
Someone recognized her as the infamous runaway bride from the viral wedding, and many raised their phones, pulling at her for interviews.
Ivy kept her head down, denying her identity, but no matter what she said, people wouldn’t leave her alone.[]
Soon after, Roman had his bodyguards take her and the evidence of embezzlement to the police station.
In the end, Ivy was sentenced to 20 years in prison.[]
