Chapter 15
In a panic, her backpack fell under the seat.
Alarieka pounded Kieran’s shoulder like crazy. “Kieran, are you out of your mind?”
Kieran clamped around her waist, pinning her to the driver’s seat. He used one hand to hold her chin, his dark eyes sharply fixed on hers. “Do you think I’m stupid?”
Alarieka put her arm between them to keep a distance. “You mistook me for Roschelle. Why can’t I feel disgusted?
“I said I wanted to keep my distance from you. It’s you who crossed the line.
“Also, have you found out who drugged you?”
She grabbed Kieran’s neatly cut collar Her cold eyes were moist with tears. “Don’t frame me again.”
“Again?” Kieran looked at her coldly. “When have I ever framed you?”
Alarieka thought, “He framed me so many times in the past. How miserable my death was. Kieran and Roschelle stabbed me many times.”
Suddenly, Kieran sneered and gripped her chin, “Also, keeping distance? I never allowed it.”
Alarieka’s eyes reddened instantly. “What do you mean?”
Kieran’s voice was very calm. “Before I figure things out, you can’t run away.”
“All in all, you still don’t doubt Roschelle,” Alarieka said sarcastically. “It’s already obvious. Other than that glass of juice, where else is the doubt?”
She smiled sarcastically at Kieran. “Roschelle succeeded, didn’t she?”
Kieran’s expression darkened, his words unclear. “No.”
But Alarieka understood what he meant. “This has nothing to do with
me.”
She pushed Kieran away hard, sat back in her seat, and picked up the backpack under the seat to hug it.
The rest of the journey was filled with silence. Kieran resumed his focus. on the tablet, scrolling through documents.
Upon arriving at school, Alarieka swiftly got out of the car and left without a backward glance.
Meanwhile, inside the car, Kieran’s phone began to ring.
It was a call from Roschelle. “Kier, are you feeling better now?”
Kieran grunted softly.
After a pause, Roschelle spoke quietly, almost shyly, “Kier, why didn’t you let me help you last night? I know you care about me, but I was willing to…”
“Rose,” Kieran interrupted, his voice low, “don’t think about it.”
Roschelle fell silent.
After a while, she asked, “Kier, why did you send Ms. Huston to school. today? What did you talk about?”
Kieran replied briefly, “Nothing.”
Roschelle suddenly said, “Kier, do you suspect me of drugging you?”
After a brief silence, Kieran’s voice softened. “No, don’t worry.”
Roschelle finally smiled in relief, “Then I’m at ease. I’ll wait for you to come back.”
Kieran grunted and hung up the phone.
He
glanced at the school gate. Alarieka had already melted into the Crowd.
Because of Clarissa, Alarieka was quite unpopular at school. She was mostly left out and had few friends.
This was an elite school, filled with spoiled kids. Since the Argent family was the top family in town, Clarissa had a bunch of followers.
After all, she was the real heiress of the Argent family.
As soon as Alarieka walked into the classroom, one of Clarissa’s followers started mocking, “What’s that smell? So bad. Did someone not take a bath for days and roll around in a trash can?”
The other students laughed, their eyes kind of drifting over to Alarieka with looks of mockery and disgust.
Alarieka walked by, expressionless, and kicked a foot deliberately placed in the aisle. She then sat down calmly.
Clarissa was irritated by her behavior.
She stood up, gathered her followers, and kicked over Alarieka’s desk.
Alarieka stepped back just in time to avoid the falling desk.
