Chapter 22
She thought, “He seems like a decent guy, so he’s probably from
a prominent family. Presumably, he should have been a campus
celebrity just like Roderick.
“Almost everyone in school knew Roderick back then.
“How come I’ve never heard of him?”
Out of curiosity, she asked, “We must be just a few years apart.
How come I never saw you around campus back then?”
He smiled, “I seldom went to school.
“Other than necessary classes and exams, I barely participated
in any activities held on campus. It makes sense that you didn’t
know me.”
She nodded, realizing that bumping into him today was such a
pleasant coincidence.
They came from the same country and went to the same
university, and he had once defeated Roderick.
“Sorry. I just realized I haven’t introduced myself yet. I’m
Andrea Rehbein.””
Chapter 22
She extended her hand, and he shook it politely.
“Nice to meet you. I’m Quinn Shillingford.”
They stood by the window together for a while as the music
from inside grew louder.
Glancing at the clock tower in the distance, Andrea asked, “Mr.
Shillingford, the alumni reunion’s begun.
“Aren’t you gonna mingle?”
Quinn didn’t seem particularly interested.
He smiled, his gaze turning visibly gentle.
“I came back here this time to pick my fiancee up. Since I’m back,
I figured I might as well visit my professors and the old campus.”
A lot of guests came here today under the pretense of walking
the campus again. Their real purpose was to expand their
connections.
Andrea had thought she was the only one who was here to
reminisce.
But it turned out she had met a similar soul.
“You came all the way back here to pick up your fiancee? You

must be so in love.”
Feeling a lot closer to him, she smiled sincerely.
Then it occurred to her that she’d get married soon, too.
“To level with you, I’m getting married myself as well. But I still
have no idea what kind of person my fiance is.”
Adults seldom let their guards down when facing others, let
alone those with secrets like her–they never talked about
themselves too much.
Yet, when facing him, she was no longer full of wariness. Even
she couldn’t fathom why.
She actually told Quinn the secret she had been painstakingly
keeping from Roderick for so long.
After saying this, she took a deep breath and suddenly felt so
relieved.
The secret had been weighing on her for so long, and except for
her, Lucian was the only one who knew about it. Little did she
know that she’d tell it to someone she’d just met.
Quinn’s gaze deepened. He asked meaningfully, “You’ve never
met your fiance?”
Chapter 22
She shook her head.
Quinn nodded, showing understanding.
Arranged marriages were common among prominent families.
In fact, a lot of couples had never met each other before their
engagement party.
A marriage of convenience was essentially a bet.
If one lost, one’d spend the rest of their life in regret.
“I hope you marry the right one and live happily ever after.”
Unlike Roderick’s cold, sharp voice, his was pleasant to the ear,
as gentle as a spring breeze.
Andrea had never been happy ever since that night.
But now, she felt a lot better.
All of a sudden, she found herself more confident facing the
upcoming farewell.
“Thank you. May you and your fiancee spend a happy life
together forever.“”
Just as she finished speaking, she suddenly felt a cold gaze from
behind her.
Chapter 22
Then she saw Quinn shifting his gaze past her shoulder.
