Chapter 16
“You really are a slut, aren’t you? You’ve got loyal simps
everywhere. Fine. I’m off. But… this isn’t over. See you soon.”
He deliberately emphasized the last three words while staring
at Andrea, sending a chill down her spine.
She shuddered in lingering fear, not being able to calm down
even after a long time.
After Bradley left, Emerson walked over and extended his hand.
to her.
“Are you alright?”
His voice snapped her back to reality. She quickly adjusted her
messy clothes, gave him his coat back, and stood up on her own.
Being seen in such a sorry state made her utterly embarrassed.
“Thank you so much for today. Without you, I…”
She couldn’t even bring herself to continue.
“No worries. It’s nothing. But I think he’s onto you. You’d better
not go out alone again.”

“OK.” She nodded.
As they walked toward the flower shop together, Emerson
noticed the embarrassed look on her face and changed the
subject.
“Ms. Rehbein, in fact, I’m so curious. The flower shop is amazing,
and you’ve put so much effort into it. Why did you sell it?”
She forced a smile. “I’m about to get married and leave for good.”
Emerson smiled.
“I see. Then, Ms. Rehbein, congratulations in advance.”
After they signed the contract, they shook hands, and then he
left.
As Andrea came back to the hospital, the nurse happened to be
calling out to her.
“Patient No. 33?”
She stood up at once and went for the results, feeling utterly
nervous.
The doctor said, “I saw no signs of embryo implantation in the
uterus. Ms. Rehbein, you aren’t pregnant.”
Chapter 18
Upon learning this, she felt relieved.
It was great!
Breathing a sigh of relief, she was finally in a slightly better
mood.
It was the only good news she had received all day.
As she was about to leave the hospital, she saw two figures
around the corner.
Matilda was next to Roderick, holding onto his arm with a
sweet smile.
Meeting Andrea’s gaze, she deliberately stroked her lower
abdomen, her implication clear.
All color leached from Andrea’s face.
She thought, “Matilda’s pregnant?”
She stared at the two intently. Roderick’s eyes were fixed on
Matilda throughout, and he was totally oblivious to her
presence.
“Calm down, Andrea,” she told herself.
Since they were engaged, it was only a matter of time before
Chapter 16
Matilda got pregnant.
Yet, no matter how hard she tried, the great heartache was still
killing her.
The future she had dreamed of sharing with Roderick would be
lived out by another woman.
She was no longer part of it.
Curving her lips, she smiled self–mockingly.
At this point, her heart would still ache because of Roderick.
How pathetic.
She took a deep breath and turned to leave. At the same time,
Roderick was deeply annoyed, and he had to try his best not to
lash out.
He had already been in the company. Before long, Matilda called
him, wanting him to accompany her to the hospital.
She said she kept coughing after falling into the water and was
afraid it might become pneumonia, insisting on a CT scan.
Being left with no choice, he could only come here with her
while leaving work behind.
He had always prioritized professional

matters, and Matilda’s actions clearly crossed a boundary.
As he was utterly irked, his phone rang.
“Roddy, Bradley has been bragging, saying he almost got to sleep
with Andrea today. Did you know anything about that?”
Roderick stopped in his tracks, his pupils shrinking.
“What did you say?”
Matilda was secretly enjoying herself after pissing Andrea off.
