Mom seemed to have lost the strength to argue with him. She just said impassively, “Check your phone. See how many calls I made to you and how many messages I sent. You refused to take my calls or answer my messages, and now you’re accusing me of hiding it from you?”
“That’s impossible! I didn’t get any calls or messages on my phone-”
He seemed to think of something, and he immediately turned pale.
He took out his phone, trembling. As he had expected, he discovered that Mom’s number had been blocked.
He had blocked Mom, which was why he hadn’t received any of the messages that she had sent.
He had been with Judy for the past few days. It was obvious who had done it.
“That’s impossible. Judy would never do something like that…”
Even at that point, Dad still refused to believe that Judy would do such a thing. After all, he thought that she was pure and kind.
I shouted at him, “Wake up! She’s a bad person! Hasn’t she hurt Mom and me enough?”
Mom didn’t try to argue with Dad, unlike how she had in the past. She said wearily, “Whether or not she did it is no longer important. What goes on between you two has nothing to do with me. Remember to go to City Hall tomorrow and fill in the mate bond termination agreement.”
Dad panicked at how calm Mom was. “No! I won’t terminate our mate bond! There’s nothing between Judy and me. You’ve been my only mate from the start!”
“It doesn’t matter whether the two of you are innocent or not,” Mom said coldly. “If you refuse to sign, I’ll go to the witch and buy a termination potion to force you! Also, don’t come here anymore. Ray says that she doesn’t want to see you again!”
With that, she chased Dad out of the forest.
I clapped my hands as I watched them. I thought Mom could finally hear what I was saying.
Dad loitered at the edge of the forest. He didn’t seem to want to leave.
However, after he got a call from Judy, he didn’t stay and left in a hurry.
I was too curious. I glanced at Mom, who was still sitting in front of my gravestone blankly, and I decided to follow my father and watch the show unfold.
