Chapter 47: Love Means Obedience

“I factory reset your phone.” Annabelle Taylor waved the device with a triumphant smirk. “Now there won’t be any traces of her left.”

Alexander Hamilton’s head snapped up. “How dare you?”

“Because I’m your girlfriend.” She tilted her head, her gaze both innocent and cruel. “I checked. You’ve been good—no evidence of lingering attachments.”

He snatched the phone back, frantically pressing the power button.

The screen lit up. The progress bar showed 95%.

“Don’t bother,” Annabelle leaned against the desk, enjoying his panic. “It’s almost done.”

98%. 99%. 100%.

The phone rebooted—blank.

Alexander’s fingers froze mid-air.

“Happy?” She moved closer. “Now you won’t repeat past mistakes. Just like how you kept my photos, holding onto her things would only make you nostalgic.”

“That was my work phone!” His voice shook. “It had important files! Client data! Project updates!”

Annabelle waved a dismissive hand. “Let your secretary handle it.”

“Do you know how long that will take?”

“Then make her work overtime.” She blinked. “She’s paid for this. Deduct her salary until she’s scared of failing.”

He took a deep breath. “Emily has three children to care for.”

“Fire her then.” Suddenly, Annabelle wrapped her arms around his waist. “I’m jealous. No other woman should be near you.”

“She’s been with me for eight years!”

“So what?” She looked up stubbornly. “If you love me, you’ll obey me.”

Alexander tried to push her away. “Be careful—your stomach—”

“I won’t let go until you agree!” She tightened her grip. “Fire her tomorrow. Promise?”

Silence.

Outside the window, the setting sun stretched their intertwined shadows into a silent battle.
