Chapter 7
Yvonne’s heart pounded. Steven was upstairs, and if he caught them, her act would be over.
Reid noticed her nervousness but just smirked. “Wouldn’t it be better if he saw us? Then you could get divorced right away.”
“Reid!” Yvonne hissed, fury in her eyes as she tried to push him away.
“Yes?” Reid didn’t move, lowering his head to gently kiss her earlobe.
Yvonne shivered; in just one night, he’d discovered her sensitive spots. He’d enjoyed kissing her over and her again.
over last night, and now he was teasing
Her face flushed a deep red, her earlobes burning from his touch. The warmth made her heart race, leaving her both shy and annoyed. A thin mist of tears filled her eyes, and suddenly her gaze turned sultry and captivating, like a siren’s.
“Reid, don’t go too far,” she whispered through clenched teeth.
Reid had no intention of stopping, however. His eyes blazed with intensity as if he wanted to set her entire being on fire. He wondered, ‘When she’s cold, she’s truly indifferent. But when she’s alluring, she’s damn irresistible.
‘Too far? I think we’re just getting started,” he murmured, his voice deep and magnetic. His fingers brushed her cheek, a barely–there touch that made her heart skip a beat.
Yvonne took a deep breath, trying again to push him away. “Let me go. Steven could come down any second.”
Reid’s lips curled into a smile, his usual composure giving way to boldness. “So what? I want him to see, to know that you’re mine.”
Just then, footsteps sounded from upstairs, and Yvonne’s face turned pale, her heart racing. But Reid held her tighter, showing no sign of letting go.
The footsteps came closer, and Yvonne grew more anxious. She was about to freak out when the footsteps almost reached the hallway and suddenly stopped. Steven turned back. Yvonne let out a sigh of relief, feeling secretly grateful.
Reid noticed the tension on her face, and his smile widened. “Scared?” he asked softly, teasing her.
She glared at him. “Let go of me right now, or there won’t be a next time.” Her voice carried a hint of threat.
Reid was taken aback for a moment and then released her. “Send him away tonight, and I’ll come over.”
Yvonne quickly straightened her clothes and hair. Reid lounged lazily on the sofa, watching her with a smile.
Annoyed, Yvonne kicked him hard. He winced, but her angry look reminded him of her fiery spirit, and a flicker of affection flashed in his eyes.
“Sorry to keep you waiting, Reid,” Steven said, hurrying down the stairs. He was dressed in a suit, his hair still damp from a rushed shower. Reid lifted his chin, looking
at him calmly. “No worries. Chatting with Yvonne was actually pretty interesting.”
“Oh! Honey, what did you two talk about?” Steven asked, wrapping an arm around Yvonne’s shoulders.
Reid’s eyes narrowed slightly, showing a hint of displeasure.
Yvonne quietly moved away, keeping her tone calm. “We talked about last night.”
Steven’s expression changed. “Well, Reid, let’s go.”
“Okay,” Reid replied, getting up and slowly fixing his tie. He glanced at Yvonne again with a meaningful smile.
As the two headed out, Steven turned back at the door and said to Yvonne, “I’ll be back tonight.”
Yvonne stood there, silent.
Reid casually added, “Did you hear that, Yvonne?”
Yeonne realized he was referring to the earlier comment about “sending him away.” She pressed her lips together and replied, “Got it.”
