Chapter 5
Those clear words exploded like thunder throughout the spacious beach house.[]
Knox’s face instantly turned pale. He lunged forward, grabbing the property manager by the collar, his eyes filled with rage.
“What did you say? Say that again!”
“Whose body was found?”
The property manager was terrified, lacking the courage to repeat himself.
After a long pause, he stammered:
“It’s… it’s your wife, sir. This morning we received a report about a female body found by the shore. When we checked, we saw she had a hospital wristband with the name Reagan on it. That’s how we found you.“]
“I’m sorry, Mr. Knox, but your wife has… has passed away…“]]
This time–Knox heard clearly.[]
But he refused to believe the terrible truth before him.]
Instead, he chose denial.[]
He grabbed the property manager’s collar and shook him frantically. “No… that’s… that’s impossible! You must be lying to me, right?“|[]
‘Tell me, who put you up to this? How dare you play such a fucking joke on me!“]
‘Reagan can’t possibly be dead. I’ll report you to your company and have you fired!“]
Knox’s face darkened to a murderous shade, his intimidating presence filling the room.]

Knox called over the housekeeper and asked:
‘Mrs. Wilson, where’s my wife? Where has she been these past two days?“]

At this, Knox slammed his fist onto the coffee table. Blood flowed from his knuckles, but he seemed not to feel the pain.[]
He tried a thousand ways to calm himself down, but completely lost control.
The property manager was shaking with fear as he struggled to continue:
It’s… it’s true, absolutely true. Look at this wristband with Reagan’s name on it. There’s also a witness who saw her jump from the errace two days ago.“]

Knox released the man’s collar and, with trembling hands, took the items.
With just one glance, he recognized them.
He knew this ring all too well.[]
Seven years ago, when he proposed to me, he was a penniless young man who couldn’t afford a ring, so he melted down two soda can tabs to make matching rings.]
Later, as the company grew, Knox became increasingly busy. Whenever he promised to take me to choose a diamond ring, something always came up.
Last year, we made a plan that on our seventh wedding anniversary, he would give me a unique pink diamond ring.
Now, that day was just three days away.

A profound sense of powerlessness washed over Knox. He could no longer stand and fell to his knees.
His gaze caught the medical report in his hand. Trembling, he opened it to see the words “Miscarriage Report.” The cause was severe external impact resulting in massive bleeding.
There was even an ultrasound image showing a baby in the womb.
That was our child.
But now, it was gone.
Knox shook his head in despair and finally broke down in tears.
“Reagan was pregnant. She was actually pregnant!“]
“How could I not have known? And I had people target her abdomen!“]
He had used my supposed infertility as an excuse to satisfy his desires with another woman, never imagining I was already carrying his child.
The baby he had hoped for five years was now killed by his own hands…]
Knox carefully placed the ring in his pocket, his eyes red with tears, and asked: “Where is my wife? I need to see
“I don’t believe it. I can’t accept that she would leave me like this. We promised to be together for life!”
The last sentence was almost shouted through his overwhelming grief.
The property manager turned pale with fear.

Finally, several bodyguards had to help him up and guide him toward the door.
Just as they reached the entrance, Skylar rushed out from the bedroom.]
