Chapter 2
The next morning, I was awakened by the sound of shopping bags downstairs.]
As I came down, I saw Knox with his arm around Skylar, carrying bags filled with this season’s latest luxury items.[
Seeing me, panic flashed in his eyes as he quickly explained:[]
“Reagan, the hospital was crowded and not good for her recovery. I thought the ocean view would lift her spirits, so I brought her here.”
“Can she stay with us for a while? Once the baby is born, I’ll have her move out.“[]
Before I could respond, Skylar approached me with seemingly genuine sincerity:[]
Reagan, thank you for yesterday. If not for you, Knox and I might have lost our baby.”
Then she stepped closer, whispering so only I could hear:
“Poor Reagan, first I’m carrying your husband’s baby, then he brings me to your home. What’s next? Me replacing you as Mrs. Knox?“]]
Her face was full of challenge, but I simply smiled. “Go ahead, the position of Mrs. Knox is all yours.”
Skylar suddenly grabbed iny arm and raise her voice, her eyes reddening:
“Reagan, you’ve misunderstood! I’m not trying to take your place or steal Knox from you…”
Then she dropped to her knees in front of me, her bandaged leg hitting the floor with a thud.]
“Reagan, I was wrong! I shouldn’t have volunteered to be Knox’s ‘antidote,‘ and I shouldn’t have gotten pregnant!”
“But I truly wasn’t trying to destroy your marriage. I just really want to have this baby. I promise… once the baby is born, I’ll disappear and never bother you again!”
Tears instantly filled Skylar’s eyes, as if she’d suffered some terrible injustice.
Knox quickly embraced her from behind, then gave me a cold look I’d never seen before.
“Reagan, what’s your problem? Didn’t you agree to let her have this baby?”
“If you’re unhappy about something, take it out on me, not on this poor girl!“]
Skylar looked pale, curling up in Knox’s arms weakly.[]
“No… it’s not her fault. It’s mine! I’ve wronged her!”
“I‘… I’ll go to the hospital right now and terminate our baby! I promise I won’t interfere in your lives anymore!“[]
With that, she moved to leave, but Knox frantically held her in place.[]
“No, Skylar, you’ve done nothing wrong.”
Then he coldly turned to me:]

“Reagan, apologize to her!“]]
I laughed bitterly.
“Why should I?”
Knox’s eyes blazed red:[]
“Because you’re bullying her!“]
Seeing this, Skylar grabbed my hand: “Don’t be angry with Knox, Reagan. He’s just upset and speaking rashly.“[]
“How could he ask you to apologize to me? It’s all my fault.“]
I violently yanked my hand away: “Are you done with your act?“]
The moment those words left my mouth, Knox furiously shoved me.[]
My abdomen slammed into the corner of the table, sending waves of pain through me.[]
“Reagan, you’re truly incorrigible, daring to get physical with her right in front of me!”
“Don’t make me repeat myself! Apologize! RIGHT NOW!!“]
I met Knox’s gaze and replied firmly:]
“NO!”
“I will never apologize to her!“]
Knox’s expression instantly darkened. He grabbed my hair and dragged me forcefully into the kitchen.
Then he ordered his security to bring a basket full of mangoes.
“Since you refuse to show remorse, why don’t you taste these…”
I looked up in disbelief, screaming:[]
“Knox, have you lost your mind?!“]
“You know I’m allergic to mangoes! You’re trying to kill me!“[]
His voice was ice–cold:[]
“I know. But you hurt Skylar, so you need to pay a price.”
With that, mangoes with their skin still on were forced into my mouth. I shook my head desperately, but several security guards followed his orders, holding my shoulders firmly.
As the fruit entered my throat, my body immediately began itching, my breathing became labored.]
In my daze, I remembered how early in our marriage, I accidentally ate a cake with mango filling. Knox, eyes red with worry, had rushed me to the hospital and insisted on staying by my side for three days and nights.[]
After that, every servant in our house knew one rule: mangoes were strictly forbidden.[]

Now, everything had changed…]
Gradually, I couldn’t breathe. Before losing consciousness, I heard Knox’s utterly cold voice:
“Feed her every single mango. Don’t leave anything.”
