Chapter 395
Chapter 395
“Audrey,” Yann called out.
When Audrey was wheeled out of the operating room, the anesthesia still hadn’t worn off, leaving her dazed and barely conscious.
Hearing Yann’s choked voice, she struggled to open her eyes but couldn’t, only managing a faint murmur through her nose. She didn’t fully wake up until two hours later.
Audrey was in a private ward, where a crib with safety rails stood by the window.
Keith and Quentin blocked Audrey’s view. As she turned her head, she saw Yann standing there, his eyes red from crying.
“Darling, you’ve been through so much.” Yann’s eyes grew even redder, and his voice was hoarse.
Audrey smiled weakly, struggling to raise her hand and gently touch his teary eyes. “Look at you, a grown–up is still crying like this,” she teased affectionately.
“Where does it hurt?” Yann gently grasped her hand, his voice full of worry.
His hands, always so warm and steady, now were ice–cold and trembling slightly.
Quentin turned at the sound and approached. “You’re on a pain relief pump right now, so you don’t feel any discomfort. But you can’t keep it on for too long–it could slow down your recovery.”
Yann looked at his wife’s pale face and the medical tubes attached to her, his heart wrenching with pain. “You’ll have to wait six more hours before you can eat. Just hang in there a little longer.”
Audrey went into labor just as she was about to have dinner. The C–section had completely drained her energy, leaving her both starving and exhausted
now.
He said to himself, ‘Darling, you’ve been through so much for us. We won’t have more kinds.‘
“I’m a bit tired,” Audrey said weakly.
“Just sleep if you’re tired,” Yann said softly, gently brushing a stray lock of hair from her forehead. Then he snapped at Keith, “Shut up.”
Keith snapped photos of the babies and sent them to Hardy with a playful challenge: [Guess–boys or girls? And which is the firstborn, second, or third?”
‘How childish,‘ Yann thought to himself, ‘being with my wife is what truly matters.‘
Audrey knew the surgeon was a top–notch expert, but she still couldn’t shake off the fear, Lying there, she felt as if she could hear the scalpel slicing through her skin.
When she was first wheeled out, everything was still
I hazy. But now, fully awake and seeing Yann by her side, she felt so secure.
She slept straight through to the next day.
Audrey saw the man slumped beside her hospital bed–the slightest movement of her hand jolted him awake.
“How are you feeling?” Yann asked gently while pressing the nurse call button. The doctor arrived promptly to examine Audrey.
She was recovering quite well. The doctor removed her catheter and told her to get up and walk around to prevent adhesions.
The nurse went over a few more instructions before leaving.

Quentin waited outside the ward and, when the doctor came out, followed them to the doctor’s office.
“Where are the babies?” Audrey asked weakly, noticing the crib was missing from the hospital room.
“They moved the crib next door so you can rest better,” Yann said softly. He fetched some warm water and gently washed Audrey’s face and body
Despite the freezing weather outside, the hospital room was kept warm by the heating. Still, Audrey was drenched in a cold, clammy sweat.
When Yann saw the incision, his hand trembled involuntarily. He had read online that a C–section required cutting through seven layers of the abdominal wall.
Yann thought, ‘She endured the agony and ghastly wound for me.‘
Yann turned his head and sniffed, taking a moment to steady himself. Once he had calmed down, he carefully avoided the incision and tenderly cleaned her wounds.
“Does the scar look terrible?” Audrey murmured, tilting her head.
Yann replied, “No, not at all.”
“Don’t lie. It must look hideous. It’d kill any desire,” Audrey murmured.
“No,” Yann said, his face appearing right before hers. “In fact, I want you right this moment.”
“Get lost,” Audrey laughed playfully, but the movement tugged at her incision, making her gasp in pain.
Audrey shot Yann a look and thought, “Seriously, what is wrong with you? How can you even joke about that right now?”
She knew he was only teasing to make her smile, and the thought filled her with a gentle warmth.
Shortly after the cleaning, Sylvie walked in, holding a carefully prepared nutritious meal she’d made especially for Audrey.
“There’s a kitchen next door where I’ve been keeping your meal warm,” Sylvie said as she opened the insulated lunchbox, adjusted the hospital bed to help Audrey sit up, and assisted her with eating.
Sylvie told Audrey that Yann had arranged a dedicated team to look after the three babies, with Amelia supervising everything, so she shouldn’t worry and should just focus on her recovery.
“Don’t worry, we’ll bring the babies over as soon as they wake up, Sylvie said.
As they were talking, a sudden argument erupted in the hallway outside.
Yann set down the basin and stepped out. The argument in the hallway gradually faded away, but from her bed, Audrey could still make out Lucia’s and
Lena’s voices.
Lucia said she was going to prepare food for Audrey, but she never returned. After leaving the hospital, Logan checked both her temporary residence and Winifred Manor, but she was nowhere to be found.
He had previously assigned people to keep watch on/Lucia. But when Audrey went into labor yesterday, he assumed that Lucia wouldn’t cause any trouble, so he called off the surveillance–only for her to vanish without a trace.
Early that morning, Lucia showed up at the hospital, but Yann barred her from the ward, let alone seeing the children.
Lucia simply walked away without a word.
She came back now probably hoping to smooth things over.
“Audrey.” The hospital room door swung open as Lena poked her head in with a grin.

Seeing Audrey eating, Lena walked in with a smile. “I wanted to come and see you yesterday, but the director wouldn’t let me off set”
She set the get–well gifts she’d brought aside, pulled up a chair, and sat down beside Audrey’s bed.
Lena asked with concern, “Audrey, did it hurt a lot?”
“It hurt,” Audrey admitted honestly. Once the anesthesia wore off, the pain was real.

The doctor told her to get up and walk, but even after giving birth, her belly was still quite swollen. She couldn’t shake the fear that the incision might tear open if she exerted herself.
Lena’s heart ached, but curiosity got the better of her, and she wanted to see the scar,
Just as Lena was about to pull back the covers, Yann walked back in.
His expression turned as frigid as the winter outside. Startled, Lena recoiled and yanked the blanket back.
Lena chuckled awkwardly. “W–What a coincidence. The babies have the same birthday as you, Yann. Now the four of you can celebrate together every year. It saves money and hassle.”
Audrey suddenly realized it was Yann’s birthday yesterday.
“Darling,” Audrey smiled, “do you like your birthday present?”
‘No,‘ Yann thought, his heart aching. ‘I can’t stand that she suffered like this for me.
‘If those three brats ever dare to disrespect their mother, I’ll be the first to teach them a lesson. I’ll beat their butts black and blue.
Yann gently stroked Audrey’s hand, hooking his fingers around hers in silent devotion. His soulful eyes remained fixed on Audrey, filled with unwavering
tenderness.
His eyes did remind Audrey of a big, eager Husky trying to win her over. She almost burst out laughing, but even a smile made her incision ache.
After the meal, Sylvie took the lunchbox next door to clean up. Amelia arrived with a group, each carrying one of the three newborns, and they couldn’t stop gushing about how perfect the babies looked.
Amelia said, “Look at their eyelashes, so long. Look at their hair, so thick. Look at those eyes–even closed, you can tell they’ll be big when they open. And look at their tall nose…”
Audrey didn’t dare say it out loud, but inwardly she thought, ‘They look a bit… unattractive.‘
After three days in the hospital, Audrey wanted to go home, but Yann insisted she stay for a full week to recover properly before being discharged.
During this period, Lucia attempted to visit twice more, but she was denied access to both Audrey and the babies.
No one told Audrey what was really going on, and she chose not to ask.
Now that she had given birth and recovered her strength, she was ready to settle the score with Lucia.
A week later, Audrey was finally discharged from the hospital. Her entourage–including the babies and their nam,
Lena, and others–formed practically a whole motorcade.
The grand motorcade made its way back to Hillcrest Gardens.

official website.
Feeling bored, Audrey opened the Yalvin forum she used to visit.
Some netizens began questioning Yann’s triplets. For one thing, no photos of Audrey looking heavily pregnant ever surfaced online. Plus, the odds of naturally having triplets were astronomically low.
The vast majority still believed Audrey was just a front–that the so–called “triplets” were actually born via different surrogates, then presented to the public as triplets all at once.
Audrey opened her photo album and scrolled through it for a long while, but she still failed to choose one to post.
Just as she was deep in thought, her phone rang–it was a call from the police. She was told that Lucia was in trouble.
