Chapter 5
I awoke from my hangover with a severe headache.
What was worse was that I had blacked out for part of the night.
“Vincent? Why are you in my house?” I pointed at him, horrified.
Vincent Efron was wearing an apron and smiling at me. “Go take a seat. Breakfast is almost ready.
By the time he brought out a steaming hot breakfast, I still hadn’t recovered from the shock.
“I’m sorry, the drink I made last night was a touch too powerful. I forgot to tell you to take it easy.”
He lowered his head, and long eyelashes formed shadows beneath his eyes, making him look remorseful.
I swiftly waived my hand. “This is not your fault. I couldn’t stop myself from drinking more.”
He looked at me out from the corner of his eye before lowering his head again, looking even more pitiful. “Then why aren’t you eating the
breakfast I made for you?”
Of course, I fell for it.
“I am eating! Who says I’m not? This sandwich is so delicious!”
At first, I was just humoring him like you would a child. But soon, I was devouring it for real.

Chapter 5
It really was delicious. And since I hadn’t eaten much last night while drinking, I was starving.
Once I was full and satisfied, I realized Vincent had been resting his chin in his hand, watching me for who knows how long.
Seeing him staring at me, I began to feel a little self–conscious.
I immediately shifted his focus by asking, “Were you the one who took me home last night? Thanks.”
“There’s no need to thank me. But there was this guy standing at your door last night. He claimed to be your boyfriend. He had a key but couldn’t open the door. I thought he was trying to break in, so I called the cops on him.”
Boyfriend? Oh! Randy.
T
I had changed the locks a long time ago.
While I was still processing that information, Vincent looked flustered. “Wait… did I make a mistake? Was that really your boyfriend?”
“No. He’s my ex. We’ve broken up. You did well.”
“Really?” He ducked his head again.
I didn’t notice the smirk tugging at the corners of his lips or the cunning look in his eyes.
He insisted on staying for lunch before leaving.
Hence, I was treated to a feast. I ate until I was full and left with a satisfied smile.
“Vincent, I didn’t think you’d cook so well for being so young. Your future girlfriend is one lucky girl.‘

He just smiled and added more food to my plate. “If you like it, eat more.
Vincent really was a kid because he hadn’t reached the legal age yet.
The Twilight Bar belonged to his uncle, and he was only there working as a bartender to gain some life experience.
I didn’t expect a wealthy heir to cook this well. He truly hid his abilities well.
The more I looked at him, the more pleased I felt.
He had striking features. His nose bridge was tall, his eyebrows were bold, and he had a pair of charming almond–shaped eyes and a small mole beneath his eye that made him look seductive in just the right way.
But he was too young.
I shook my head a little regretfully.
After sending him off, I finally had time to check my phone.
I was surprised to see so many missed calls from the police station.
When I got there, I learned that Randy had been making a scene, demanding to see me. He wouldn’t leave even when someone came to bail him out.
As soon as the officers saw me, they looked like they’d found their savior.
“Sign the paper and take him away quickly!”
Randy stormed over and grabbed my arm, scanning me up and down. His tone laced with fury as he questioned, “Who was that guy yesterday? Why did you change the locks? Why didn’t you answer your phone?”
I shook off his hand, annoyed.

“Randy, we had broken up. Get that through your mind. You don’t have the right to question me anymore.”
He froze, his forehead furrowed firmly. “When did we break up?”
I scoffed. “We didn’t? I believed two months of radio silence meant a breakup.”
