“Mr. Romero, he’s just a friend of mine. I’m a free person. I have the right to be friends with anyone I like. No matter what grudge you hold against your brother, it’s none of my business. I hope you can stick to our agreement and not interfere with my personal life.”
Every word uttered by her just infuriated Vincent even more. He gnashed his teeth, and the veins in his forehead were throbbing.
He gave off a chilly vibe, as if his presence alone could drop the air temperature below zero.
“Are you challenging my patience?”
“I’m just acting by our agreement. Aren’t you the one who drafted the agreement?”
Madeleine had long lost her sanity. Her wounded pride burned so fiercely that, for a moment, it eclipsed her fear. And she only wanted to stand against the unfair hegemonism.
Vincent inhaled a breath through his teeth.
He realized that he should list out a hundred rules to demand that she stay away from any dangerous people and keep three meters away while speaking!
“Rule No. 5, you mustn’t do anything that might jeopardize our babies. And your associating with William may put the kids in danger anytime.”

During the trip, he’d even risk his life saving a rabbit from a trap.
He was even kind to a rabbit. How could he hurt his nephews?

“I don’t know what mistake there is between you and your brother. But I don’t think he’ll hurt our babies. Nor will I tell him about my pregnancy.”
Madeleine hedged and changed her tone. “In my eyes, the biggest threat to our babies is your fiancee, Madilyn. She’s been suspecting that I didn’t get rid of the babies and tried to hurt me many times. Obviously, she hates the babies now. How can I expect her to treat them well? Why don’t you break off the engagement with her?”
It was her deliberate act.
Vincent shouldn’t have double standards. Since he didn’t allow her to associate with another man, he should cut off his ties with his fiancee,
too.
Madeleine’s words touched a nerve in him.
Vincent had never meant to marry Madilyn. He’d break off the engagement one day, but not now.
“Are you negotiating with me?”
“Yes, only if you break off the engagement will I stop hanging out with William. This way, both the threats will be gone. Everybody is happy. Please think about it.”
Then, Madeleine just shook away his hand and ran away.

“Or is she deliberately using William to make me jealous so that I’d renounce the engagement and marry her instead?” Vincent thought.
He was certain the latter was true.
How could he lose in comparison with William?
Thinking of that, he gave a sinister sneer.
“That was so close. I almost fell into her trap!” thought Vincent.

When Madeleine got home, Jaylene had prepared the dinner.
Having taken a sip of the soup, she said casually, “Today, William came to the office to have a necklace customized. It seems that he and Romero don’t get along. Did anything happen between them?”
